Train wreck coming. Because eventually they will start dating and she's going to expect him to say the sweet nothings face to face.

Plus when the truth comes out, she will be hurt and feel lied to.

I am agreeing with Des... mostly.

The whole Cyrano thing, nice idea, but actually feeding language to someone? No. Coaching, good. I have done the coaching thing. It's good to help someone find their OWN words.

Game try, though, Aries, and good of you to help out a pal. [:)]

I guess that I am in the minority here, but Aries said he talked to his friend first.  He heard what the guy wanted to say, but admittedly did not have the writing skills to get down on the page himself.  As a freelance writer who has people editing my work frequently, all I can say is that on many occasions they do a good job of tidying up what I wanted to say and making it better.  Still my work, still my thoughts, but more succinct and much better grammar.  I can still put my name on it after it's been edited, because it came from my head.  So, I suppose it really depends on how much poetic license was taken.  If the OP only took what was said and made it work from as a transition from thought to written word I say no harm, no foul.

I'd be flattered if I were the girl.  Now, if it was going to be a penpal situation, that's a totally different deal.  If I'm writing to someone as my main source of communication and he can't keep up his end, not going to keep writing that long.  But, I'm going to make the leap here (from the original post) that the guy had a problem with how to move things OFF the computer and into the real world where he should be able to use his own (unedited) words.

I think it was very nice of you to help your friend out.
I wouldn't be bothered that he'd needed help putting his feelings into words; so long as what was said was the truth and genuinely felt.

DrG, Don't worry I'm not heh.

Everyones opinions were pretty much
what I thought, but I liked that there
were a lot of people sympathetic to his
situation.
Sometimes words can't describe what
your feeling, but most times they can,
I just read a lot so I can string a
sentence together pretty easily, that
and I've had a heap of practice lately.
All I did was help him put the words
down really, in a way that might spark
her interest.
Ultimately he will succeed or fail on his
own merits when face to face so I don't
think it's to big a deal.

SlipSlidingAway, what kind of writing
do you do?

The writing is on the side.  Not at a point where I can make a living off of it yet, but working on it.

I do all sorts of writing.  I started out mostly with content for websites and blogs; the clients pretty much knew what they wanted to say, they just did not know how to word it.  I have done some magazine work, mostly local - and food related (I had a baking business that was regulated out of existence).  I do less of those things now- and more consumer research.  It's dry and not my favorite thing, but it pays better than the other two. And- depending on how you look at it- I am either blessed or cursed to have great research skills.  It's sort of become my niche market.

Hoping some day to write the great American novel and have a lot more freedom in what I write.  But, I have to put in my dues (and pay my bills) in the interim...

Did you have any specific training to get
into that? I'd like to know a bit about the
nuts & bolts of how you got into it, could
you send me a CMail?

I write a bit of Fiction in my spare time,
I'm still at the stage where I don't think
highly enough of what I write to actually
put it out there, or I should say I'm coming
out of that stage now, since I'm working
on a Sci fi trilogy at the moment that I
plan on submitting to publishers.
A long way to go on it still, but I just love
writing it! It's almost like I keep at it so I
can read the next part yanno?
