I guess that I am in the minority here, but Aries said he talked to his friend first. He heard what the guy wanted to say, but admittedly did not have the writing skills to get down on the page himself. As a freelance writer who has people editing my work frequently, all I can say is that on many occasions they do a good job of tidying up what I wanted to say and making it better. Still my work, still my thoughts, but more succinct and much better grammar. I can still put my name on it after it's been edited, because it came from my head. So, I suppose it really depends on how much poetic license was taken. If the OP only took what was said and made it work from as a transition from thought to written word I say no harm, no foul.
I'd be flattered if I were the girl. Now, if it was going to be a penpal situation, that's a totally different deal. If I'm writing to someone as my main source of communication and he can't keep up his end, not going to keep writing that long. But, I'm going to make the leap here (from the original post) that the guy had a problem with how to move things OFF the computer and into the real world where he should be able to use his own (unedited) words.
