My sweetie and i are wanting to learn Spanish - and maybe retire to Mexico in several years. Since i grew up in New Zealand, i have had no exposure to Spanish (had French and German in high school). I had to come to the States to learn my first bit of Spanish - taco - and really, that isn't much use in a conversation. lol.

I was thinking Rosetta Stone, but if there is something else out there that would work better, i would love to hear about it.

The first phrase I learned in French was something along the lines of "pas mon cul, salaud!" ... go figure.
