While introducing President Obama in June, Mayor Rahm Emanuel joked to Chicago Democrats that when Obama is in town the weather improves.

“The president arrives, the rain stops, the sun comes out.” Emanuel said. “Coincidence? I think not.”

The audience for President Barack Obamas convention speech just got a lot smaller - and Republicans think they know why.

The Democrats’ decision Wednesday to move Obama’s acceptance address from the outdoor Bank of America Stadium to the indoor Time Warner Cable Arena means about 50,000 fewer people will be able to see the speech in person.

It appears Obama's handlers are afraid of a 10% chance of rain...Ain't it funny that they trust climate scientists, but not meteorologists.

This is a 'humor' thread, right?
I mean they get that up until the decision to move indoors, the event had long since been sold out and that the only way you could  get in was to volunteer for two working days. There are people out there with ACTUAL TICKETS.

But convention sources exclusively told the MailOnline on Tuesday that the real reason behind the switch was fears within the Obama campaign that there would be large numbers of empty seats in the 74,000-seater stadium. The Time Warner arena has a capacity of just over 20,000.

The Obama campaign had been working desperately to ensure that the stadium in Charlotte would be filled. Buses for students from across North Carolina and even members of black churches in neighboring South Carolina and Georgia had been arranged. One source told MailOnline that 1,000 people were being bused in from Atlanta - 244 miles from Charlotte.

Now, the campaign will be left with the headache of telling the tens of thousands of people they had arranged to travel to Charlotte for the speech that they will be turned away.

Kerrigan said: ''The energy and enthusiasm for our convention in Charlotte has been overwhelming and we share the disappointment of over 65,000 people who signed up for community credentials to be there with the President in person.

Lets see -

1. fears within the Obama campaign that there would be large numbers of empty seats in the 74,000-seater stadium.
2. Multiple buses.
3. they had arranged to travel to Charlotte for the speech
4. we share the disappointment of over 65,000 people who signed up for community credentials to be there with the President in person

Ok.

Yeah, the Mail.   Great bit of hard hitting rightwing journalism there, it is only exceeded by prison planet and the national enquirer.

There is the consideration that most of those folks would be subjected to the elements over a few hours of time. Its not like they enter all 60,000 persons within five minutes, get the President on stage, and all exit five minutes after the speech. It could rain, and it could not rain. Not everyone is as impressive in enduring the weather as Eagle Scouts or fresh recuits out of basic training in the military. Some of those folks may have small children or be elderly, both of which do not move quickly during bad weather. Not to mention wheel chair bound folks have a hard time navigating around people wishing to access stairs.

If you wish to laugh at the events, go ahead, it simply shows your lack of intelligence, knowledge and most of all, wisdom!

Also, there maybe other reasons that have nothing to do with the weather itself, but, they wish not to alarm anyone. Same exact thing as they would do at the RNC. If the Secret Service thought there was a chance however minimal to the President's life, they do have authorization to over-ride when and where a speech could take place.

It sucks not to be under the heavens, with sixty-thousand folks watching the President of the United States giving a speech, but unexpected things can and do happen. No one could predict the weather's exact effects when they were deciding where to hold the convention. Can you predict with 100% accuracy the weather in a give location, three months ahead? Not just whether it will rain, but tempature, humity, heat index, wind, and a variety of other conditions?

Would be a good idea, to refund those tickets, or try to squeeze them into the arena that the DNC is currently using. Mr. Obama is a gentleman, and gentleman wish to make sure those around them are taken cared of, safe, and well regardless of the situation.

Isnt the Republican House approval numbers now in the single digits? That would mean they beat out the meterologists by a vew percentage points, right?

I'd say the President matches your criteria... How often were Bush or Obama right? I'd be willing to bet it's a lot less than 10%

Digging up bodies is hard work, and all the illegal workers are rebuilding New Orleans.

Maybe Obama should have offered some extra food stamps to get people in that stadium.

So now you want me to prove my opinion? Should I get you a notarized affidavit?

How about some evidence that I base my opinion on, will that suffice?
Oh noes, even the NYT is turning on the President.

What does your link have to do with either Obama or Bush being right or wrong about anything?

Cant you even stay on your own topic?
