Check your multivitamins, folks!

Avoid multis whose formulas are based on hitting 100% if the US RDA, which has recommendations based on amounts needed to prevent deficiency diseases such as scurvy, rather than amounts needed to thrive. For example, the RDA for vitamin C is now up to 75 mg for non-smoking women over 18. You can tell when you've reached the correct amount of vitamin C by when you reach "bowel tolerance" (get gassy), which for me is 4 grams when I am healthy, more when I am run down, exposed to toxins, or fighting off a cold.

Dr Weil's vitamin adviser is a good place to start:

Dr. Weil's Vitamin Advisor is an online questionnaire that provides a personalized, comprehensive recommendation for healthy adults for vitamins and supplements based on lifestyle, diet and health interests, and is provided for informational purposes only.

Well, folks...the verdict is in. Bottom line: don't take NSAIDS long-term if you can possibly avoid it. They chemically poked more than a dozen nasty bleeding craters in my small intestine (saw those in living color [:'(][:'(][:'(]).

Obviously, NSAIDS have been stopped. HGB up and holding steady, so I'm definitely on the mend. Adding a disgusting smoothie of raw kale, cucumber, mixed baby greens, carrots, celery, beets and nutritional yeast a few times a day. If that doesn't keep me healthy, nothing will.

Damn, that smoothie would make you stay healthy out of sheer disgust!!!! [:@]

and glad you found out what the cause of the problem was.

Hi folks-

Thanks for the well-wishes.

The combination endo/colonoscopy showed nothin'. Insurance has denied a transfusion.

F*ck all this, I'm gonna buy an accordion. [&:]

If oscopy is showing nothing it could be similar to what I'm dealing with...celiac with adrenal complications. Find a functional medicine doc ASAP & bring all your blood work with you. "Leaky gut" can sometimes, but not always be actual intestinal tears

wow nsaids huh. I have colitis and I was on the verge of needing a transfusion my hemoglobin was so low. I too was told it would take months to years for my hemoglobin to return to normal. I was told to go to the health food store and get an iron supplement there. When the one prescribed by my doctor made me feel horrible I went. I was able to take the iron without any side effects. 6 months later when I went into my GI for a check on my bloodwork my hemoglobin was normal. He looked to see if he ordered a transfusion and was shocked it went back up that fast. I went to taking the Iron just a couple times a week to prevent an overdose of Iron since having too much can make you feel just as bad or worse. In June when I got pregnant my hemoglobin was holding steady at 13 even though I had several bleeding incidents from my colitis.

Glad you got your trans!
I have Stage II Aplastic Anemia and am on a severe diet restriction and heavy duty supplements. I do monthly full blood panels if I drop under a certain over count its off to a trans for me.
