Reposting so that I don't lose it when I want to look it up in the future:
I'm into/interested in financial domination from the dommy side of things, so hopefully I can give a little bit of perspective on it.
I wouldn't compare financial domination to sadism or masochism but rather to other power exchanges. Part of that's probably because my sadomasochism is based in the physical (as opposed to the mental) - it's a high, but it's not quite on the same visceral level for me. It's less about pain than it is about power. The idea of having control over someone to the point of them giving me what I want simply because I want it is arousing, whether what I want is intangible (such as telling them to make me coffee/kneel/get something from the next room) or tangible (items, money, etc). I tend to direct potential subs to items rather than cash to make it clear that it's all for fun on my end - I have a job on top of school and I'm not looking to add another one to pay my expenses, but I don't see a reason not to pursue a kink with consenting people given the opportunity. This all said, I haven't found anyone whose style of financial subbing works with my style of financial domming, so some of this is based on conjecture.
I wish I had a good reason why money has become a symbol of exchange for me and has been sexualized. I don't. I do know that I started being open about my interest financial domination after I felt a bit of a high and arousal after my boyfriend handed me his wallet so I could take money from it in a completely vanilla context. It shows up a fair amount in my masturbatory fantasies. I imagine that, with the right partner, I probably would even get something out of a real-time session with fake money (provided it didn't look TOO fake). I do restrict it to real money online, because, for me, the distance and lack of touch make actual money essential for the amount of connection I need to "get" something from it in a kink sense... Otherwise, it's just some stranger waving money around on cam, and I don't even like a lot of my other kinks in that context.
I'm not looking to change your mind, per se, but I do want to give a different perspective. I at least do my best to be something other than a persona screaming "PAY ME, BITCHES."
