1. Be safe - This is everyones responcibility to make sure you and whoever you play with is safe.
2. As long at rule 1 is being followed, all other rules are between Dominants and submissives

Please comment

So do you subscribe to RACK or SSC?

Welcome to collarme.

Generally, RACK folks don't perpetuate the "safe" myth. It's one of the distinctions between the two.

Or "sane" as they're both completely subjective terms.

Honestly, I think we make way too much about the existence of a distinction between SSC and RACK.

They both boil down to essentially the same thing. I personally prefer RACK because I think it's less ambiguous and that if you examine the terms, they are both synonymous.

S and RA mean the same thing. Let's face it, nothing is "Safe". Tying your shoe laces can be dangerous. When safe is used in this context it's used in the context of "safe, given all the parameters" so it's the same as RA.

There's a strong argument that the "Sane" in SSC is redundant, as if you're not sane you cannot consent, and you cannot effectively determine the safety (which also means understanding the risks) of an activity.

So whenever I see "SSC" vs "RACK" discussions I'm inclined to think "meh".

hmmm I would say the rules of D/s are:

-Relationships are still relationships, even if you're kinky
-Try to be a decent person
-Think with the big head once in a while
-For god's sake learn how to wield your weapons safely
-Don't impose your kink on the unconsenting public
-Don't tell other people that your way is the only right way
-Don't confuse real life with porn

actually most of those are just life rules. That's because D/s isn't that different from 'normal' life in most ways.

I'm inclined to see the RACK vs SCC argument as opposite groups taking up arbitrary words to soothe their respective feelings of inadequacies towards each other's kinks and play. It feels very much like a product of some massive my kink vs your kink argument.

We don't play safe.

But we do play 'aware'.

Both Rack and SSC are a mental masturbates, you need only follow D/s related reported deaths each year to readily recognize that excepted common practices considered safe are at the best extremely unsafe.

Risk aware, nonsense… especially when the extent of one’s so-called information and expertise is rooted in information acquired on the internet or learned at demos or as a result of taking part in club play.

You don't see a difference between info acquired online vs demos? Please let me know where you attend demos so I can avoid them. Every demo I have attended has highlighted risks/safety concerns.

Please provide links to deaths caused by common practices considered safe.

Rainwalker, I am quite sure I am not the only one who has noticed your passive/aggressive method of replying with inflammatory comments which you later return to edit.

Since you are new to this board, all I can say is that you may not want your beginnings here colored by such behavior. It will be noted and remembered, and not merely by me.

As for the topic, I liked Athena's rules. I'm not enough of an edge player to have a valid opinion about SSC or RACK, though I do like the idea of *personal* and *shared* responsibility.

I don't use either one. Then again, my life has never once ever been "safe".

I just call what we do "life" and shit happens. You fix what is wrong, shrug it off and keep on moving.
