ElizabethAnne -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 10:25:00 AM)

From CNN:

On Wednesday, the State Department's former point man on security in Libya told the House Oversight Committee that he asked for additional security help for the Benghazi facility months before the attack, but was denied.
Various communications dating back a year asked for three to five diplomatic security agents, according to testimony at Wednesday's hearing. But Eric Nordstrom, the one-time regional security officer, said he verbally asked for 12 agents.
The request for 12 agents was rebuffed by the regional director of the State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Nordstrom testified.
"For me and my staff, it was abundantly clear that we were not going to get resources until the aftermath of an incident," Nordstrom said.
Also, Lt. Col. Andrew Wood, a Utah National Guardsman who was a site security commander in Libya from February through August, testified that a regional security officer tried to obtain more personnel, but 'was never able to attain the numbers he felt comfortable with." It was unclear whether he was talking about Nordstrom.

So yeah I got proof.

The cons were bashing her in the media in advance......which is cheating really.

But she did well and was honest......

Which means they will continue to attack her personally.

cuckoldmepls -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 10:29:23 AM)

Both Biden and Obama think people will reelect them based on their personalities. That's why Biden was loud, boisterous & laughing at everything. He was trying to be the popular high school preppie running for Student council.

Here's the bottom line. Yahoo polls which is dominated by young people, ranked Biden at 49%, Ryan as the winner at 51%. This means that older people who have been around long enough to hear tons of Biden's malarkey will support Ryan even more.

Sounds like a disgruntled ex-employee......

Does it matter that the cons showed the satellite photo of our CIA compound there, with their "hearings"?

No......that doesn`t matter.....[X(]

Now every person in Libya who ever went there(our friends and locals employed there) will have an al-queda target on their backs.

Well done, republicans.

Biden also lied. He said they had no information on an additional security request for our embassy that was attacked.

Biden either lied about that, or there's a major, Major, MAJOR lack of communication between our Consulates and Embassies and the White House.

Do you really think every request for security personel by an embassy goes to the President's desk?

Biden took Ryan to the woodshed.
While I don't for a moment believe that folks vote for the bottom of the ticket, one guy(Biden) came off as an actual "partner" in policy decisions while the other(Ryan) came off as the best reason to pray for the health of a President Romney .
Biden actually looked better this time than he did against Palin, probably due to lack of concern about coming off as condescending.

Biden's response to the first question of the debate was an outright lie, as were most of the rest of his responses.
Biden's arrogant, condescending, ridiculing came off as an actual partner in Obama's "They [Republicans] can come along for the ride but they have to sit in the back [of the bus]."/"My Way Or The Highway" policy discussions/decisions.
Biden actually looked worse this time than he did against Palin, no doubt due to the fact that Obama is now losing to Romney nationally.

Owner59 -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 10:45:55 AM)

There`s  one "witness" (who didn`t witness anything) ....~saying~.... there was a turned down request......which isn`t proof of anything.

And public records of the republicans turning down millions of dollars in requests for embassy and consulate security.....which is proof.

Hate to say it, but the Orioles v. Yankees preempted the debate on my TV. The Orioles avoided elimination.

Biden acted like a total jerk and never let Ryan finish a point without a lot of interuptions, and the moderator let him get away with it.

You must have watched a different one than me. The moderator called Biden on it more than once

You must have watched a different one than ABC's, CBS's, NBC's and CNN's analysts.

LOL.... Im sure I watched a different one than you.

alwayssummer -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 10:58:32 AM)

It was fun to watch on a split screen to see Biden laugh at Ryan's blather and Ryan stumble over/ hydrate each as he was confronted. It's always fun to see these rightwing think tank products like Ryan outside their fawning "Hilldale/Heritage" bubble.

Biden did a good job of backing Ryan into reminding us of Romney/Ryan true ideological ids - antichoice, anti47% (or Ryan's30% takers plus), proforever war in Afghanistan, general Vietnam era level chickenhawkery, hypocritical "taking" on the stimulus, (Biden got letters to prove it), medicare & social security granny-starving, general foreign policy belligerence/inanity. Yada yada "big ideas" bunk. Too bad they didn't get to the Romney/Ryan burn up the planet and privatize everything features..

I thought Biden was fairly restrained against Ryan ...at a couple of points I thought Joe was suppressing the (rightful) urge to
do the jerk off motion while Ryan blithered on and on. BTW Ryan really played a stupid with his long story of Mitt helping (yet another) fellow Mormon...car crash victim, umm not something you want to use to score points around Biden...

Biden scored big on the being Catholic vs pro choice insurance coverage faux debate (Joe," no one has the right to impose their religious beliefs on others") because, well, you know, freedom...

Lucylastic -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:07:38 AM)

Always, I got much the same impression as you about Biden..doin the jerk off motion:) hehh,
The car crash upfuck was really dumb

alwayssummer -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:24:23 AM)

Upfuck!!! Thanks, never heard that word before.....definitely going to use it in the future.

Ryan reminded through the whole debate of Paul Krugman's description of Newt:" A dumb person's idea of what a
smart person sounds like."

Who do you think won the vice presidential debate? Who had the best closing statement?

I especially liked when Biden held his arms up in the air and stared "heavenwards" like a holy roller! lol

ElizabethAnne -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:28:50 AM)

You seriously are justifying O'bama in this??? An Ambassador and three other in the embassy murdered, repeated requests denied; And it's ok because not every request for additional support goes across his desk. That is your stance?? Really?

ElizabethAnne -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:31:39 AM)

A disgruntled employee. Rigggght.

mnottertail -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:34:20 AM)

Well, had the republicans not cut funding, there might have been money to do it.

Now, it seems to me that when the much vaunted St. Wrinkelmeat had one embassy slaughtered in Beirut, in April asked for and recieved $251 million for security and had that embassy slaughtered in September, and then lost a military installation via slaughter in October, he slunk away like a coward and for some unknown reason (maybe his alzheimers) it was accounted unto him as righeousness.

Diplomats are occasionally killed in this world, theirs; ours; and what to do about it?

ElizabethAnne -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:35:53 AM)

So more from CNN:

The facts:
According to Democratic House Oversight Committee staff, the amount that the GOP-led House passed for two accounts that pay for embassy security in fiscal 2012 ($2.311 billion) was $330 million less than the Obama administration had requested ($2.641 billion).
A GOP House Appropriations Committee aide confirmed the House bill had less in these accounts than what the administration requested.
However, the final bill, after being worked on by the Democratic-led Senate, put in more money than what had passed in the House. The final bill, which passed with bipartisan support, gave a total of $2.37 billion to these accounts for fiscal 2012 -- about $270 million less than what the administration had requested.
Conclusion: The GOP-led House did initially approve about $330 million less than what the administration requested, but in the final bill, passed with bipartisan support after adjustments by the Senate, put the amount a little closer to the administration's target.

So out of 2.37 BILLION Dollars they couldn't find additional support for our embassy? Let's look at the whole story not snippets.

JanahX -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:40:33 AM)

And yet ... there are Republican candidates and existing Reps that are proposing to put women (who dont deserve it) and children (ONES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN BORN AND ARE LIVING /EXISTING ) to death right here in the good 'ol USA. And youre worried about this?

mnottertail -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:41:50 AM)

You may give us the breakdown on where all that money goes.
Then, how much for security, what security costs, what security would have been enought to save the ambassador, are you thinking 5,000 troops or 1,000 or what?  And where would they come from, we have been fighting republican wars for onto 12 years now, and there is no draft and the guys are rotating in and out 5 to 10 times..........

Of all the embassies needing protection in the middle east, why that request?

Waltz me thru the logic, the mission, the men, the morale, the materiel, that would have saved that ambassador.

Owner59 -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:42:14 AM)

There`s no evidence that Biden or the President knew of the requests.

So gloating over the deaths is looking a bit shabby.

These cons came out of recess to hold these hearings.....

Why couldn`t they come out of recess to hold hearings on embassy funding?

And now that this terrorist attack has happened....are the cons going to agree to the embassy security funding requests from the White House they denied?

mons -> RE: reactions to vice presidential debate (10/12/2012 11:56:48 AM)

They the Republicans have cut so much during their years in The White House, and this even though it
been four years since they have been there it still shows, enormously!

Mons
