New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) praised President Obama’s work to help states battered by Hurricane Sandy as “outstanding” Tuesday, but cautioned that the recovery would be a prolonged effort.

Christie, a prominent surrogate for GOP candidate Mitt Romney, said Obama had moved quickly to help designate his state a disaster area to better expedite federal assistance.

“The federal government’s response has been great. I was on the phone at midnight again last night with the president, personally, he has expedited the designation of New Jersey as a major disaster area,” said Christie, in an interview with NBC’s “Today.”
“Last night, I was on the phone with FEMA at 2 a.m. this morning to answer the questions they needed answered to get that designation and the president has been outstanding in this. The folks at FEMA, [Administrator] Craig Fugate and his folks have been excellent,” he continued.

In a separate interview with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Christie added to the praise, saying that “the president has been all over this and deserves great credit.”

Credit where credit is due. Absolutely.

Christie seems to be prepping for a run in 16.
If his ability to say "Good job" regardless of whether the person has a D or R after his name and work with that person is an indication of where he is headed, I will definitely rethink my earlier fair opinions of him.

The only problem is that the RNC won't see him as a WEAL and TWUE Republican and they'll look for an excuse to toss him under the bus.

Christie is still an asshole.
It is interesting how quickly these financial hardliners, who spend all of their time decrying Federal largess and deficit spending, will get their hands extended for Federal dollars when reality hits them in the face.
Right here is why Government, whether federal or state should never be hamstrung with sill balanced budget restrictions.Government is not something one can do while worrying about the balance in the checkbook.
Yes money resources should be expended wisely, yes fraud and excess should be vigorously opposed, but Government is not the "family checkbook".
Government is expected to do big things, sometimes on an emergency basis, sometimes just with an eye to the future of the Republic.
When Government does" big things " like expenditures for the infrastructure or education future generations benefit.....it is right and just that the bill gets kicked down the road.I'm quite sure my childrens generation will kick a bill or two down to my grandchildren....and so on and so on....

I meant not only the credit... but the response to a disaster.

While I tend to disagree with his politics on pretty much everything I have been impressed with his handling of Sandy so far. I think he would have been a formidable candidate in 2012 and should be viewed as the leader of the pack in 2016.

I really don't think that Gov. Christie will be running against President Romney in 2016.
