Separation of powers. That speech violated it.

Seriously? How on Earth is it a violation of separation of powers? The President didn't dispute the Court's right to rule as it did, nor did he attempt to impede the justices' work. He simply voiced his view on a controversial and widely disparaged ruling.

Is it a violation of the separation of powers for Members of Congress to criticize the court (as they do)? Or to criticize the President?

As for the ornaments, I finally found a right-wing site (big surprise there) offering a Fox News (ditto) video that shows them. All three appear to be collage-type ornaments. "Mao" is actually a repro of Warhol image set into a larger collage. The drag queen is one visual on an ornament that seems devoted to GLBT themes (which I'm quite happy to see celebrated, thank you very much.) The "Rushmore" orb is yet another pastiche, and it's clear that the President was pasted on, not depicted as part of the monument. These are three among hundreds of ornaments created and donated by local groups, and heaven only knows if the President ever saw them, let alone endorsed them.

Now that I've actually seen the ornaments, their inclusion in the list strikes me as even more pathetic than before. There's plenty to discuss and dispute about the Obama Administration (as with all its predecessors), but dwelling on three-year-old collages made by volunteers goes well past the line into ODS.

You're just repeating mantras and talking points that have already been said many times over. If you can think outside the box of those, please share.

Yes, because clearly, national socialism is WAY outside the box! I mean, white/ignorant/racist/poor...yeo you are clearly breaking new ground here!

If Obama was a socialist he would have used the fact Bush drove the ecomony into the ground and this country into debt as a lever to dismantle wallstreet.

Instead he taxed the middle class with a massive debt to save the fortunes of the richest Americans.

Lucky for the rich, most Americans are ignorant as hell about anything but football stats.

Continued welfare state socialism agendas will push some tea partiers towards national socialism just as Communist Russia and economic collapse pushed a Weimar Germany into supporting Hitler.

Ah, welfare state socialism. You do realize corporations get more in welfare that the citizens do, yes?

If corporations got no welfare, and I agree they shouldn't, would that then make it ok for the other?

Doesnt that fly into the face of the Republican mantra about letting businesses who cant succeed on their own to fail?

Of course it doesn't: that one only applies to businesses that are getting some sort of subsidy or grant from a government headed by a Democrat president, remember?

Whoopsie.

I added Benghazi. Forgot to add her.

Of course I am curious about the "lies" I am propagating. Perhaps I will be enlightened.

He left his ambassador to die in Benghazi, and you want to vote for him? Umm. . . Why?

I'm adding "Corpssssssman" to the list.

What troubles many people is his administrative amnesty for illegal aliens in August of 2011 and April 2012, his ordering ICE to not deport illegal aliens, his increasing the discrimination against white workers via affirmative action in Federal hiring and so forth. The illegalities in Fast & Furious in which we saw the spectacle of an Attorney General, Eric Holder, being allowed to retract his sworn testimony before Congress so that the gutless GOP would not have to have him arrested for perjury. Obama approved nine new nuclear power plants in 2011. Just what we need more nukes, at least Germany had the sense to not just cease new nuclear plants but GET RID of what they have. Obama is a dedicated Marxist as are the rank and file Democrats, but don't think, for a second, that genuine conservatives are fooled by Conservatism Inc. aka the GOP who are NOT really all that different from the Democrats. Peter Brimelow, former executive editor at Forbes and currently a writer for CBS Marketwatch put it very well this morning:

quote:

the most important single issue facing the U.S. is its post-1965 immigration disaster, both legal and illegal. The bipartisan Permanent Government is literally Electing A New People. Among other problems caused by this utterly selfish and irresponsible policy—immiseration of the working class, cultural dispossession, linguistic balkanization, increased crime, overpopulation, etc. —there is the amazing fact that within 30 years, the U.S. will be majority non-white. The U.S., as it has been known to history, will simply cease to exist within the lives of children now born (including my own).

Righteo. Well, the geographical area known as the U.S. was previously populated by many different tribes of aboriginal peoples who would most likely be described as "non-white". Perhaps the area is simply returning to its original color. A kind of divine retributive justice, if you will.

That is a gaffe. It is really not something to get upset about. Just like "57" states. Yeah, he is an idiot. Most presidents are. Benghazi, Solyandra, Eric Holder, Light Squared, now those are things to get upset about.

I think there may have been some military guys that were outraged over that one.

OK, since you are the fourth poster to allude to that ...

For those actually understanding Godwin's law (which I'm not counting on), the reference to Goebbels was not for purpose of accusing either the poster or the author of the link in that post as being latter day Nazis.

I mistakenly assumed that at least some portion of those familiar with Godwin's law might have been familiar with Goebbels fame as a master propagandist (again, my error). His claim to fame in that regard was his understanding of the idea that propaganda was in service to ideology, and facts or truth were only useful to the extent useful to the ideology. Any non-truth or contra-factual broadcast could be just as useful, more often even more so.

That was my comment on "the list of what makes conservatives mad." The Goebbels comment was in direct reference to the fact that this list was 95% certifiable BS.

McCarthy was actually the first name to mind, but given the stunted and stultified political understanding in this country, I went to the first name coming to mind in the same mold outside of this country.

I hereby rescind the "Goebbels would have been proud" comment.

I forget where I am sometimes.
