Oh yes you can!!
When making the first post in a thread, make sure there is some text in the post (or even just a dot)
Then click the Click Here To Upload link below this text window, find your image and press ok.
Then, and most importantly, put a check in the Embed Picture In Post area to the right of the Upload link.
When replying to posts in a thread, be sure to click the Reply to in the right hand corner of any poster,
as using quick reply will not give you the Upload options.
