It may be time for the religious right to twig off into Whigs again.

~Fast Reply~

Something that I saw yesterday that really bothered me was the number of reports about electioneering violations. Now, don't get me wrong, I think that by and large people were not trying to sneak something past. I think they were honest "whoopsies." I would like to see both parties do some sort of seminar or pamphleteering for the next election in two years to address this. These are our laws and they should be followed.

Another benifit would be that with a reduction in these reports, you are less likely to have people feeling angry and stupid over the results.  (Seriously, Mr. Trump is calling for a revolution?  Ugh.)

tazzygirl -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 9:52:01 AM)

They called Ohio last night, then Karl Rove made comments about how it was too close to call and that so many votes were still out. I think, for the whole, the calls were made correctly... meaning I didnt see any upsets this morning.

I agree there needs to be more teaching in regards to registration and voting laws, especially when so many are, or have just recently, changed. The irregularities with machines seem to have been for both sides. Hopefully this wont happen too often. But, as with most machines, they arent perfect.

As far as Trump?

“[Obama] lost the popular vote by a lot and won the election…We should have a revolution in this country!” Trump tweeted around 11:30 p.m. ET. At the same hour, he added: “More votes equals a loss…revolution!”

It should be noted, however, that Trump deleted the tweets overtly calling for revolution after Obama pulled ahead in the popular vote.

However, he left three pretty expressive ones calling for marching on Washington and fighting “like hell” over the “sham” of an election:

Mezrem -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 10:08:45 AM)

Trump is an idiot and calls for a revolution over a fair election is near criminal. I agree Mr. Trump has freedom of speech but this does not extend into calling for the violent over throw of the government. Then again should we expect more from one of the leading members of the tinfoil hat segment of the GOP?

all but one prop was killed. Maybe next time they should try spreading a little less bs and they might actually get some votes.

I spoke to soon. All the props were shot down.

The people spoke tonight. No one can say this was a black vote... no one can claim this was a white vote. This wasnt a party vote... too many states went one party in the local and Congress and the other in Presidency.

Its time we actually started working together for better ideas and solutions instead of nit picking each other to pieces for that all mighty vote. The American people are not so easily fooled anymore.

The message, in my eyes, tonight was...

Work it the fuck out.

I think a lot of voters were understandably worried about the economy and the future of this country. I don't actually believe that the Democrats are the party of the working man anymore, although I can understand that many still view them that way. That may explain why people tend to trust them more when the chips are down.

I tend to agree that people should work together, although I'm not so sure about the American people not being easily fooled. I'd like to think that the deep-seated political divides in this country may soon subside, but I'm not holding my breath. It seems that it's the same issues and political arguments that have been going on all my life. They never really get solved.

And yet in the last 4 years, we have seen a few historical events take place here. Some embrace it... some despise it. But its happened.

With a healthy touch of dementia as well. Maybe they should use shorter screws when fastening that roadkill muskrat to the top of his head.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 1:58:02 PM)

Right. Which is why I didn't appreciate being called a victim with a sense of entitlement by the likes of Mitt Romney.
In many ways, I was the type of voter he was looking for. Solidly middle class, small business owner, too old to have a personal dog in the fight for reproductive rights. But the minute I saw that video, I knew I had no interest in the man or his message.
I was a little disappointed when Obama said he was going to meet with him. He needs to stop trying to be conciliatory. Mitt is, as of today, completely irrelevant in American politics. His wife promised that if he lost, they were through with politics. Let them ride off into the sunset, and good riddance. Maybe he can spend the rest of his life trying to convert people to his stupid religion.

Thanks for noticing, Ron. I started my own firm, and it has been a whirlwind. I work all the time. Contrary to what those fucking conservatives are always saying about stoner libs.

Had to laugh at this. I'm on the opposite coast, but I've always found it ironic that New York City consistently votes for liberal candidates even though we are notorious for being a ridiculously hard working city. I know people who have lived and worked in the city who left for other parts of the country for "lifestyle" issues - which, when you really press them, translates to "you people up here work too bloody hard - I need more balance". And I have to smile, because as I think through those people, every single one of them who moved is conservative. I realize small sample and all, but just funny. Yeah, we liberals are a slacker crowd. [:D]

And in the ultimate irony, the Mormon church does, in fact, convert people posthumously to Mormonism. There is no escape from that piece of Romney. [:D]

kdsub -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 2:12:37 PM)

To me tazzy the election said four things…I am simple. A slight majority believes:

One… they want to give the healthcare laws a chance…. At least for the next few years.

Two…They do not blame Obama for the economy and think he is doing the best he can with the mess handed to him by Bush.

Three… They have confidence in the way Obama is handling our wars and foreign policies.

Four…They reject the infusion of religion in government

Butch

mnottertail -> RE: Post election thoughts. (11/7/2012 2:15:13 PM)

and more, that they want the republican house to fix the debt and spending (their mess, they own it still) and if they decide to do something asswipey, the senate will throw that shit out the fucking window, and go back to snoring.

This was simple, Romney was a weak candidate overall, but the other choices were so much worse, and the others wished to preach Religion, anti abortion, prayer, suppression of voters, and issues that simply put, most people do not care about!
Obama beat Romney, he would have SMOKED Santorum, Bachman, or any of the other clowns....Americans don't want to be told that there is one religion, that there is one answer to social issues, that hate is better than acceptance of different views, Gay people are the same as straight, those who are different share the same rights as the Old White Men....Sooner or later they'll "get it"....until then, we'll get the hate spewers like SD and others who are really just poor losers, blaming the man who won for doing nothing more than winning!

Where did Ron Paul ever say any of those things? Answer: He didn't.

It's time for the GOP to learn that you can't run on fear, you can't push people aside and make them feel meaningless, and believe they will still vote for you.

Worked for Obama.
