Literally billions of dollars(beside the billion Mitt spent)blown to defeat President Obama........... without much to show for it...

What`s up with that?

Does money trump issues and the people`s will?

Hillwilliam -> RE: So....What Happened With All The Super PACs (11/13/2012 7:07:08 AM)

Billions of dollars yanked out of offshore bank accounts and exchanged to tens of thousands of (mostly) small businessmen for signs, video work, catering, rent on office spaces, vehicle rental, security, lodging, food, etc, etc.

Fuck, let's do it again next year.[8D]

Diminishing returns of regional television advertizing.
More effective at the state and local levels.
Watch for big money concentration in state elections.
But boy, were't they shocked by the results [sm=banghead.gif]

A pushback, the electorate decided to think for themselves.
Citizens United actually got people mad,the idea that money can purchase our freedoms(by way of "buying" our votes)actually turned out the vote.
A forewarned electorate voted against the money.
And there went the whole "enthusiasm gap"...thanks Karl Rove[:)]

Comedy Central star Stephen Colbert is shutting down his super-PAC.

The host of the satirical “Colbert Report” posted a letter on his website Monday night announcing the end of his Americans for a Better Tomorrow Tomorrow super-PAC.

The announcement said the super-PAC, which raised more than $1.2 million in the 2012 election cycle, would be shut down “effective immediately.”

Colbert’s super-PAC spent more than $460,000 during the 2012 cycle, with $79,000 going to independent expenditures. The group still had more than $766,000 left in the bank in mid-October, according to the FEC.

Colbert launched the super-PAC in 2011 to draw attention to the organizations that dominated the 2012 cycle.

The super-PACs came into force after the Supreme Court struck down congressional restrictions on campaign finance in the Citizens United decision. The PACs can take unlimited donations, and many do not have to reveal their donors. They are not allowed to coordinate with a candidate’s campaign.

The comedian joked that “Ham Rove,” a fictional character parodying GOP operative Karl Rove, had died, necessitating the end of the super-PAC.

“Due to Ham Rove’s timely passing, I am announcing that Colbert super-PAC is shutting down effective immediately,” Colbert wrote.

“During this time of mourning, we ask that you respect our privacy, and more importantly, the privacy of our money. It wishes to stay out of the public eye, so please don't go trying to find it. Rest assured, you won't. We have a really good lawyer."

Actually, I think the USA just dodged a bullet. Apathy almost sunk us? The most interesting poll I saw indicated that non-voters (Of Every demographic) favored Obama by sigificant margins. A few less effective 'get out the vote' moves by the Democrats and the 'don't care enough to vote' Americans would be governed by the evangelicals, those who can't do arithmetic and the paranoid.
That so many working/retired Americans can't do the basic math to see who will be picking up the larger tab for the deficit, defense and entitlements if the Republicans enact their agenda and manage to prevent any more taxes on big business and the uber-rich is Really frightening. I guess the country used up all it's brain power learning how to figure points and adjustable rate mortgages?

Larger tab? Actually, its because many of the spending bills were stalled in the House that the economy looks that much better... and helped Obama win. You would think they might learn eventually.
