So in a break-up, who gets the toys? Or do you start a fresh?

I would say who ever paid for them keeps them except for any that are too personal to be used by another (i.e. butt plug).

A couple of my friends recently took a break in their relationship. They're both switches and alternate dominance. The guy had been the one who stored the toys, so he offered the girl her choice, with the possibility of negotiation. It ended up that they both wanted different things.

She got a couple things, he got a couple, and they'll replace the ones they didn't get.

Or get back together.

(*hopefully*)

Who were the toys mainly used on? That is the person in my mind who should receive the toys. Cleaning some items is difficult. I know I would not want to share.
How often you ever seen people clean a flogger at a party as it is being passed around?

Whatever you brought with you, you got to keep. Anything with a very personal meaning was destroyed. Anything not really shareable was tossed.

We didn't have a lot when we divorced. But he suggested I take the toys since he couldn't use them on another woman, sanitary reasons. However I didn't want them as I wanted nothing from our pathetic sex lives. Yes, I'm still bitter. He was almost never there when I used the toys. I tossed them all out.

I start fresh with new toys. Why would I want toys that I used on someone I broke up with? I don't want past experiences to interfere with present ones.

I have all the toys from my previous dom but have not shown them to Hubby, don't want to rehash any of that.

Clean? I want sterile!

From my research, It is impossible to sterilize a leather flogger or whip -- withouth destroying the leather.

Precisely why I said, whoever was the one who happened to be played with...keeps them.

I know I would'nt want to contract something from someone else I've never met.
Germs have a habit of living quite a while with certain diseases. Other's not so long. Why take the chance with our health though?

Some friends of Mine parted in a most civilized way. They divided the toys according to what each wanted and the toys that could not be agreed upon were written down on individual slips of paper and placed in a bowl. Each took turns drawing a slip of paper and kept what was on it. The odd toy became Mine, since I suggested this solution to any drama that could have arisen.

I always believe that Yyou should act in ways that will not make Yyou sorry when Yyou look back on them in Yyour future.

Of course, what's Mine stays Mine always.

One note regarding cleanliness - I have a collection of rubber and plastic toys for public play -- where many Ppeople will tell Yyou that they have witnessed Me sterilize My toys with a spray bottle of alcohol and sanitary wipes before and after use.
