Level -> clearing interwebs history question (11/14/2012 2:40:03 PM)

Ok, I have a Samsung Galaxy Proclaim phone; android 2.3-- my question is, how do I clear the browser history on the google toolbar located on the desktop? I've clared the one that comes up when I click on the desktop browser icon...
I dont see a "clear history" nor any sort of drop down things. Why do they make shit difficult..

Might check manual for your phone. My blackberry I go to history & clear it from there. Realize this site & fetlife leave cookies on the phone you might want to remove before turning in a company phone

The manual wasnt any help :'(

Also, the toolbar is weird, as soon as you click on it, the list that shows up has stars, magnifying glasses, & pencils on either side of each site listed.

I'm assuming the google toolbar is the same whether it's on your phone or on a desktop,
so I hope this link helps. There is even a way to not store history ever ever ever.

See, it's NOT like normal ones.

It has a lower case g in a blue square on the left, then the center where you type, then a microphone on the right hand side.

Sorry! How about, open a page on google, and look for preferences on the bottom of the page.
Click that to find your search features. There is also an option to not save anything in the future.
(at least that's what some website forum that I googled said)

mnottertail -> RE: clearing interwebs history question (11/14/2012 3:14:13 PM)

like sytem or somewhere there has to be the google app, touch that, and touch settings.  there is a privacy entry, and there is the clear history, and cookies and whatnot.

push comes to shove, and this is a turn me in, delete the fuckin app.

mnottertail -> RE: clearing interwebs history question (11/14/2012 3:18:59 PM)

and if you goto the google app store there is an app to clear it.

Well in that case, tell it what you want it to do. [8D]

Ooooh I'm gonna whack you lol... I may have to remove it like Ron saif

Level -> RE: clearing interwebs history question (11/14/2012 4:35:56 PM)

Found it; thanks all for the help.

Well gee, Mr. Level, you'd think after all the time we shared on this, you would at least enlighten us as to the magic button.
Meanie head! [:(]

Level...this is so simple you're just gonna fucking kick yourself.....

First, grab the manual....check for "History....clearing".

Do what it says.

If that doesn't work....turn it off, then turn it on (this won't actually do anything at all to solve your dilemma, but you'll feel accomplished after you've done it).

Then, unplug the battery...actually remove the battery from the case and set it aside, then put the battery back in etc., plug it back in (this will likely wipe out all your stored information and also not do anything worthwhile as to your issue but....once again you'll feel productive).

Lastly, if none of the above does what you're seeking....go back to that 17 year old kid that sold you the thing and say....."Ok, I have a Samsung Galaxy Proclaim phone; android 2.3-- my question is, how do I clear the browser history on the google toolbar located on the desktop? I've clared the one that comes up when I click on the desktop browser icon... I dont see a "clear history" nor any sort of drop down things. Why do they make shit difficult..can you fix this?"

(I'm here 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. M-F, Pacific time....I'm here to help).

[:)]

The damn things hard to find...

poise -> RE: clearing interwebs history question (11/14/2012 7:30:11 PM)

This was a little like deja vu for me, Level. I'm glad you were able to find a resolution to your troubles...this time. :)

Me too lol!

SchrodingerSock -> RE: clearing interwebs history question (11/15/2012 9:37:16 AM)

Put it in the washing machine for a 60c frolic and run a magnet over it just to be safe eh.

Tsk, tsk...

The way to use a magnet to erase shit is you vary the field strength and orientation relative to the offending storage medium.

If you're feeling exceedingly daring, you can put a 3" by 1" grade N55 neodymium magnet in a lathe chuck and move the storage medium closer in the correct orientation relative to the magnetic field, then move it away again. The downside to this approach is you need a blast shield in case something goes wrong, and you'll never seperate the magnet from the chuck again without using heat to scramble the magnet permanently.

Or ask the local hospital if they'll be so kind as to let you put your thingie in an ultra high field MRI and have them run a gradient accelerated spin echo sequence on it without the dissipation limits in place. That'll prolly even nuke flash storage, though it may have similarly deleterious effects on the coils and amplifiers. Expect the technician to take some persuading to agree to try this, and to beat you senseless when s/he's done laughing.

IWYW,
— Aswad.
