Yachtie -> Now that the election is over... (11/15/2012 10:06:35 AM)

From the Department of Labor press release this morning:
In the week ending November 10, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 439,000, an increase of 78,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 361,000. The 4-week moving average was 383,750, an increase of 11,750 from the previous week's revised average of 372,000.

OOPS!!!!

Florida based restaurant boss John Metz, who runs approximately 40 Denny's and owns the Hurricane Grill & Wings franchise has decided to offset that by adding a five percent surcharge to customers' bills and will reduce his employees' hours.

With Obamacare due to be fully implemented in January 2014, Metz has justified his move by claiming it is 'the only alternative. I've got to pass on the cost to the customer.'

That's just so mean spirited[8D]

Texas Instruments is eliminating 1,700 jobs, as it winds down its mobile processor business to focus on chips for more profitable markets like cars and home appliances.

The layoffs are equivalent to nearly 5 percent of the Austin, Texas-based company's global workforce.

Aw shucks[8|]

Harvest is over, I bet it is heavy ag layoff. But I am certainly glad this came out after the election since the numbers are for the week ending Nov 10th, and the election was on the 6th, had the announcement came out before the election, we would have to revise our numbering systems.

Hurricane Sandy. As power is restored govt offices reopen and people can file claims. The OP gives us data based on spurious cause and wants us to think it is somehow related to the election? Disingenuous is too kindly a word for this thread.

Well the guy who runs and owns some 40 fucking lousy goddamn restaurant (if you can call them that) franchise spots, and pays his employess less than minimum wage on the tip exclusion is hurting, and gonna pass it on.....no fur lined sinks for christmas for him this year.

tazzygirl -> RE: Now that the election is over... (11/15/2012 11:18:07 AM)

His comment was that he would pass it on as a separate item... and let the customer decide to take it out of the tips or not since the employee directly benefits.
