I would be interested in hearing how people effected
by hurricane sandy handled things, and their
thoughts.

How were you effected?
What did you have to do to cope with day to day
things like food, electricity, sewage during that
period if those things were disrupted?
Has this experience made you think up any plans
for yourself should something similar happen again
or if you had preparations in place, how did they
hold up?

Theres a poll as well for polls sake.

Here in Baltimore they were calling for it to cause massive destruction but all we got was some rain and wind. No damage here at all. Seemed to have missed us completely.

Everyone affected by it has my sympathy.

Usually hurricanes hitting NYC come straight up the Hudson River and we deal with the aftereffects. This time it took a sharp left and followed Route 17. Weird.

I had 10 gallons of water stored, didn't need any.

However my town got hit hard last year by Irene and Lee, so we were due for an easy one.

My formerly reasonable now ex roommate used our disagreement over whether or not he should remove his window AC as an excuse to move out a month earlier than planned and shaft me for his half of this month rent. (He's supposed to make payments starting Dec 1; we'll see...)

I lived in FL during the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons and had no power for a week after Wilma, so I was well prepared.

Master's house (50 miles West of the New Jersey shore) lost power for 2 days. we were prepared but didn't use everything we had prepared.

Aries - i'd like to point out that there were many people who were very well prepared with supplies and generators, but the storm destroyed those supplies. A large number of gas stations lost power (and were not able to use generators) and could not pump gas to refill generators and cars.

We lost power for about 4 days, but we have natural gas so we could cook on the stove top. Three trees were uprooted in the backyard, but didn't really cause any damage (the roots of one bent the chain link in the fence as it came up).

Overall, we were prepared but were no where near hit as hard as others around us.

My sister was without power for over a week, and she is on a well. Eventually they hooked the well up to a generator. They were able to keep the food in the freezer, but not the fridge.
