efafaef -> spam button abuse (12/2/2012 10:00:53 AM)

Seems to be happening a lot on here. I'm certain no admins check to follow through with spam reporting and it is automated to save on man power there for resulting in people abusing it for mischievous purposes.

What?

RumpusParable -> RE: spam button abuse (12/2/2012 10:09:10 AM)

Let me guess...

Translation:

"I'm getting the automated block for being reported as spamming"

[:D] You are SURE admins don't follow through are ya? Dude, I have seen shit around here... as well as everyone else, where scammers report other scammer and blacklist them to cut the competition. (Want to cut the scammers, then talk to the people that respond to the twenty year old promising all sorts of wondrous kinky things for fat old men.) I've seen where people complain about members and CM staff and don't know what they are talking about to the point of making reports and starting threads constantly, that turn into train wrecks that admins have to follow up on. I have seen people report someone for not responding to an email, after all, we are on a kink site and the kink should be given to anyone wanting it. (Damn those girls that won't provide.)

Get in line, but don't blame anyone unless you really know for sure that things aren't followed up on. Do you have any idea how fast some things disappear and how the admins protect people from various people posting links and how they risk even their own computers to provide that protection. Who do you think has to investigate all that and have you ever wondered if those nasty links ever got an admin.

I know a guy that kept reporting stuff every time he didn't like something or someone. He even admitted to putting in hundreds of reports in a day. Then offered to be an admin. ROFLMAO! No, you won't find that ass hole on my friend list. Stupid is what it is.

Now, what did you think your thread was going to do about all this... admin/site crime against the members? [:D]

Oh you little ray of sunshine you-read the TOS, all reports specifically say they are not read by a person but when a certain number of complaints is reached auto-penalties kick in.
Try rewriting your profile, kicking out the negativity (As well as the TOS violations, that is, if you have a profile by days end).
If you ain't met anyone in six bloody years on here, and enough messages to kick in the spam filter, it's time to look in the mirror.
Cause ya know, when one person says you have an issue, maybe they're crazy. When two people say it, well, maybe it's a coincidence. When a thousand people say it, it's time to think, They might be on to something.
And really, GTFU-just because some stranger on the net doesn't photo verify means nothing about whether they are real or not . It simply means they don't want to show pics to YOU, and frankly, the way your profile reads, I don't blame them.

Oh yeah it is. The whole damn thing is.

OP, sorry you aren't getting any. That must be a major crisis at the ripe old age of twenty eight. I know it sure makes you cranky.

punisher440 -> RE: spam button abuse (12/2/2012 10:36:24 AM)

FR
OP...speaking of spam, why is this thread in General BDSM Discussion? It has nothing to do with BDSM....unless you call being butthurt BDSM.

LadyPact -> RE: spam button abuse (12/2/2012 10:37:14 AM)

OP, do you know the definition of spam? It is unsolicited and/or unwanted offers via email. That means, if the receiver didn't want it and it doesn't match that person's criteria, it's spam. For example, My profile says that I do not want emails from people unless the are forum participants or are local to Me. Everything else, I report as spam.

Have a nice day.

ETA - That spam filter was probably the best improvement on this site in the last five years.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: spam button abuse (12/2/2012 10:37:32 AM)

You get spam filtered when you send out a large number of similarly-worded letters in a short period of time (because you're obviously just sending the same stuff out to everyone you can in the hope of a response) this happens automatically. OR you can get spam filtered by having multiple people report your letters. Now there might be one or two mischievous people who hit the spam button without needing to, but if enough people are reporting you that you're getting spam-blocked, it's probably you.

You do have to admit, that Dave (was a funny) guy.

Allow me to elaborate on that...

I'm getting the automated block for being reported as spamming and I have no idea what is actually going on so my natural conclusion is that I am perfect and it must be all the fakes and wannabe's.

Poor Sir Whinesalot complaining that he's been biffed for spamming again? Quite a display of dominance you're sharing with us.

Hopefully everyone reading your cryfest will go report all the violations in your profile, pics and journal. Then you'll really have something to cry about!

RumpusParable -> RE: spam button abuse (12/2/2012 11:38:58 AM)

I couldn't find how to report his whole profile so I looked at his pics and reported the TOU violation there.

DomMeinCT -> RE: spam button abuse (12/2/2012 11:54:10 AM)

It seems to me that the vast majority of threads complaining about the spam filter are begun by the perpetrators of spam. Too many messages are too many. This site has its limits, which you've surpassed and that has triggered the spam filter.

lizi -> RE: spam button abuse (12/2/2012 12:26:36 PM)

I have to say that this is the first time I've seen someone complaining about spam abuse and it's sadly hilarious that the person whining about it doesn't seem to understand that he's bringing it upon himself. A couple of people reporting you for spam wouldn't make you hit the spam filter just by that- there must be a lot of more people reporting you than you think there are, or you're also combining that with the automated feature that logs similar messages within a certain time span as being spam. You might not have anyone reporting your messages at all, it might be all on what you're sending out. Or...conversely it might be all people reporting you and let me say, it would have to be a shitload of people for that to happen.

I really love that you think after 6 years of not finding a woman on here that your spam filter troubles are based on the mischievous spam abusers rather than looking at yourself.

It's actually the second time that he's complained about it.

Omg....yes, you're right. He complained about the spam filter in June. He got the whole explanation of the filter and how it works back then. I like the way he's concluded since then that now it's due to the spam reporting elves as to why he's hit it again. Obviously it can't be him. Or the fact that his messages are unwanted so women are reporting them. It's the mischievous spam elves who are bringing the site down. I bet they are unattractive and obese too, since he seems absolutely terrified of that as well.

On the home page put the user name of the profile in question into the search box. The report profile button will appear.
Then you get to check off how the profile violates TOS.
