I am old enough to remember the impact of the "Time Out" album.
And I remember seeing him in the late 60's. At one point they all left Morello alone on the stage and he gave us a stunning 8 minute drum solo.
In the 50s he was the one who started touring colleges when he could not get booked into clubs. An idea he credited to his wife. Another way he pioneered in the music field.
I also remember reading that one TV executive told him they would like to book him and give him national exposure; "but of course you will have to use a white bass player." Burbeck declined.
