My extensive <cough, cough, bullshit, cough> knowledge in this area is the small drop in the water that was related by the answer given by NV. I don't do the alcohol enema bit because frankly, I don't know enough about it to know how much would be safe, etc. I'm also a wimp in the part about what types of things can be done under those conditions. No edge play or limit changes under those circumstances. I was rather surprised when clip wanted to try it recently because he has always related that he gets intoxicated on half a wine cooler. We'd already done the pain play of the evening, so I didn't see any harm in it.

it allegedly can be convenient to take advantage of them in many ways... emotionally, sexually, *cough* financially

This point was brought up earlier. Redmagic noticed that most of the profiles that say they're into forced intoxication seemed to belong to financial Dommes. I guess once the sub is drunk, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. As Damon Wayans used to say, "Mo' money, mo' money, mo' money!"

i prefer mary jane for weakening the defenses. much safer and much less likely to harm the partner's liver function.

Personally, I have a rule against mixing drugs or alcohol with BDSM play. But if it works for you, then go for it.

I wouldn't think of it as "forced intoxication" but....

We do enjoy our wine and martinis over here. And when I've had a bit "too much", the things that come out of my mouth to him are hilarious (or so he thinks). So every once in awhile he'll pour me a couple of shots and say "drink up" - this, of course, is within the confines of our own home, with no intention of going anywhere and with no expected visitors.

I've told him, "If I drink this, I can not be held responsible for anything I say or do from this point on".

This is the type of example that I was expecting when I started the discussion. The idea of giving wine enemas, or of getting people drunk so their wallet can be raped came as a total surprise to me. I never even thought of those possibilities.

The psychology is very much about power exchange. As others here have said, this kink is about control. It's a high risk one, in terms of what can happen along the learning curve (how much to use, how often...).

Also, it's about lowering the ability to make a choice. Even if both parties agree to activities beforehand, it can't be denied that the "receiver" enters a state of "iffy" competence, so the ability to change their mind (use a safe word) is compromised. That means there's a potential for criminal charges against the "giver."

IMO, "the high risk, low return," nature of this particular kink, makes it an unpopular activity. Of course, that's easy for me to say - it's not my kink.

Wow, great input! That's very interesting history from the gay community.

I can see you point about how this is power exchange. But I agree with you that it's a bit "high risk, low return" (unless you happen to be a financial Domme. Then it's high risk, potentially higher return).

The dom/me in question gets to believe that a drunk person will be easier to handle. (which leads me to believe that those people have never argued with a drunk) And it lets the sub wake up the next morning being able to say "None of that was my fault, after all I was drunk"

Yup! Sounds like a convenient way to eliminate personal responsibility. And I agree with you that anybody who thinks this makes someone easier to handle has never argued with a drunk.

Wine enemas can cause death, severe alcohol poisoning is a very high probability. The fact that the sub is now rendered unable to legally give consent, the blame would fall completely upon the Dominant.

Can you? Sure, I have seen the ratio listed as 4:1.

Should you? In my opinion, no. The risks are not worth it.

But you just said that you incorporated forced intoxication into your play, but then didn't expound on what you did. Does that sound fair? I may have to start calling you a tease.

OP,
I don't really have much experience in "forced"
intoxication, I kind of look down at the idea and
for some reason, I relate it to people who get
their pets stoned...

Seeing a friend drunk for the first time is always
an eye opener, I know restrained people who
come out of their shell when drunk, I know
people I respect that don't engender that respect
when drunk, I've known angry drunks, pethetic
drunks and fun drunks.

In regards to whether or not I'd like a sub to get
drunk would entirely depend on what they are
like when drunk, but I can't picture myself "forcing"
it.

And one thing I didn't realise until I read this
thread was that it's a fetish people are doing over
webcam, interesting but can't say it appeals to me.

I have not heard of this as being a kink.. I have heard of it being a form of murder tho..

Well that's definitely a strong argument for avoiding this kink.

yes, indeed.. I rarely drink and when I do, I keep it to a strict limit.. except once a couple of years ago.. a guy took me out to dinner then he had a big bottle of Harveys Bristal Cream sherry.. mmmmm
I think he was trying to get me drunk to have his way with me!!!
It didnt work.. I simply would not allow myself to be drunk and give him a chance to get in my pants.. even the next day I only had a very slight hangover (it should have been a doozy).. For me it was mind over sherry, and staying focused..
Its not something i would want to do again tho..
I really like to enjoy my sherry, nursing it, sipping it slowly, savoring every drop.. not chug a whole big bottle in one night..
What a waste, that bottle would have normally lasted me 6 months!

Quite fair.

Suffice to say, it wasn't his wallet I was raping. Then again, he does always make that point about not being able to rape the willing.

The earlier play had been impact and needles. I happen to be very endorphin blessed when it comes to play and I particularly soar when it comes to needles. On the other hand, clip's sub space doesn't last very long at all after playing. The theory was duplicating the floaty feeling of sub space for round two.

Sounds and sex are always a good combination. (My apologies to HillWilliam, who is probably still reading.) The idea was to see if it would be a little more intense on his side if he would still be feeling euphoric. Since sounds for males already feel like something of a continual orgasm, it was just the idea of pushing the bar.

Is that a bit better? I was going to add in a smart assed comment about enjoying your suffering, but it probably wouldn't be appropriate.

Lastly, how do you keep your forced intoxication play safe?

First, we use one oz of alcohol diluted in one quart of water. As a non-drinker, this mixture makes me 'slightly tipsy', not drunk. The effects are quick and last about as long as a normal shot of alcohol does when imbided orally.

Second, we don't indulge in any form of edgy BDSM play after the intoxification occurs. No flogging, no needles, nothing like that.. sex, massages.. fluffy, connecty stuff.. yup, we'll stick with that stuff and get all googy-eyed, kissy-face. I know.. it's gross, but there it is.

Third, it's not something we indulge in frequently but it is our way of ringing in the New Year so, rather than a 'kink' it has become more of a tradition.

quote:

Is there a limit to how drunk you allow your sub to get in order to keep it safe?

Well, safe is a subjective term.. he likes me at tipsy, so the one oz in the quart of H20 is just right for us.

quote:

Or is the inherent danger of forced intoxication part of the appeal?

No. Me being tipsy brings out my humorous side and he likes that side. That's the appeal.

Oh, for those who have never done this.. I've never had a breath test but after an alcohol enema, I have the taste of alcohol in my mouth for sure. It's like a phantom taste as if I drank the shot, not took it up the ass. That was an FYI that might have been TMI. lol

Thanks in advance for your input/insight.

It's the sexiest justification for rampant alcoholism.

By analogy, adult boys playing with dolls would be the sexiest justification for chlorprothixene abuse, I suppose.

As far as I know, the ratio is higher if you're talking peak concentration. The effect drops quickly as the alcohol redistributes to other tissue compartments, but the BAC itself will peak far higher than what it settles at. Using a ratio of 4:1 for something that will get you solidly drunk sounds like a recipe for disaster.

IWYW,

Thanks, Hillwilliam,

I read all of the posts before I began to write. #29 went up while I was writing so I didn't see it. I would have missed it. That's me, not you!
