ORIGINAL: YN This is funny as the idea for "Barbie" dolls came during the developer's trip to Germany many years ago and where she observed the little dolls sold to German men and put in their house windows to demonstrate the type of women they desired/found attractive so women walking by might know their "tastes." Thus these dolls were "adult" toys. And some had very "risque" apparel and accouterments. So the Barbie doll has gone the full circle. Uh...yea, that isn't the history of the doll I'm finding... Barbie Doll History Even though Barbie was based on the Lilli dolls, they weren't put in windows by the German men to denote what they wanted in a wife... Who invented Barbie and why? So granted, while they were originally marketed to adults (Lilli was the ultimate gold digger), she became popular with young girls who liked being able to dress her up.
