Lovely girls.

Based on the goofy trailer, the film appears to have that cheesy upper-tier porn / b-movie flavor. Nonetheless, I found myself inspired enough by its visual candy to wonder what a high production movie on this subject—free of the tyranny of the MPAA—would look and feel like, and how far such a film would go in the underground of the West's cultural psyche. Freedom from the reign of The Secretary would be nice.

my bad.  That was all i could find about it online.

i still want to see it.

I want that Movie!!!

champagnewishes -> RE: New movie THE PET trailer here (6/17/2006 1:29:03 PM)

Very intriguing....the trailer eludes to a story on the mindset and training as it evolves...and where it takes them.  What i have read about it in print portrays it along the lines of  wealthy bored guy gets in over his head when he is forced to deal with an underground slave market.

In either case, it will be interesting and a definate must on my list!

perverseangelic -> RE: New movie THE PET trailer here (6/17/2006 1:38:03 PM)

Looks like fun ;) Maybe it'll be something a bit more....interesting...to me than Secretary.

Bearlee -> RE: New movie THE PET trailer here (6/17/2006 2:02:28 PM)

Yes, it looks like great fun to me, too...

Here's another couple links to some different information:
http://www.tricoast.com/LatestNews.htm
http://www.hollywood.com/movies/fulldetail/id/1745051

It apparently screened on May 18th and 21st for Tricoast Studios at Cannes, but I can find no info about how it did.

Hmmmmmmm... just read this:  "...Winners will be announced at the Cannes Film Festival due to commence on the 19th June 2006"   Perhaps THAT's why I can't find info on 'winners'!  LOL

johnnywacks -> RE: New movie THE PET trailer here (6/17/2006 2:28:45 PM)

I'm not really sure about this movie.

If you listen to the director's commentary and the producer's commentary:
http://www.thepetmovie.com/dstevens.htm
http://www.thepetmovie.com/Jeanniel%20Neil.htm

he seems to be confusing adult consensual BDSM relationships, with non-consensual international sex slavery market.  There IS a sex slavery market in the world, and it is a problem in the world.  But you don't do anybody any service if summarily dismiss ANY sort of negotiated domination and submissive relationship as evil.   By that logic, we should shut down this site, and all the other BDSM alternative organizations because they clearly lead to kidnapping and forced sex labor.  Sheesh.  That's ridiculous.

The story sounds just as muddled - a woman "consents" to become a slave, but then is forced to be sold into the slavery market.  It actually sounds a bit far fetched.  I'm not saying that its never happened, I'm just saying that I have never heard of that happening.  Sounds a bit absurd.  And if you think that writing stories that distort the real world is some how helping crack down on the forced sex labor markets, than your wrong.  It just confuses the facts.

I have talked to a LOT of people, both online and in the real world.  And MOST of the people are turned on far more by submission - a consensual act of surrender, than by real coercion and rape.  They are completely different things.

Now if the guys were just writing a story about women in submission, who are whisked away by evil bad-guys and the handsome cool master who has to get his slaves back - well that sounds fun.  I could go for that ride.  But if you are trying to use that story to draw people's attention to the sex slave market?  That's just confusing.

My guess is that the writer/director seems quite threatened by the idea of a woman "consenting" to be a "pet" or "submissive", so has created this strange "fable" that he wants to pass of as a true story.  He basically says as much in the commentary.  The scenes in the trailer of the seduction of the slave DO look very hot, but I so tired of the media sending these total mixed messages about M/s BDSM relationships. "see what could happen!  it's dangerous - you could be sold into slavery!  You could be murdered!"

Can anybody name a SINGLE display of a alternative or M/s type BDSM relationship that appeared in movies or TV that did NOT also involve a murder or crime?  I can only name one: The Secretary. (I LOVE this movie!)
The opposite is not true.

Just in the last few years, off the top of my head (am I obsessing about this?)
CSI: Has had a very well written and cool re-occurring dominatrix character, who unfortunately seems to have people getting murdered all around her.
Close To Home:  A wife murders her husband because he took her to swinger parties.
Desperate Housewives:  Had nice subplot with a husband seeing a pro-domina.  Of course by the end of the season the dominatrix was in jail and the husband was murdered.
House:  One episode started with a husband "raping" his wife in what is later revealed to be consensual scene. But of course by the end of the show we discover that wife was actually trying to murder the husband.  Oh phooey.

They go on and on.  crime and murder.  crime and murder.  Okay.  I'll end my rant.  I will reserve my full judgement until I see the damn thing.

You are absolutely correct. It appears D. Stevens is capitalizing—as others have before him—upon the a subject our society finds so deliciously scandalous, spoon feeding the public primarily dissocialize subcultures into one marketable controversy, all under the guise of being "informative". His monologue runs like some sort of public service message.

Thank you

A friend from a spanking group decided to share her find with Me.

I have seen a few different versions of O...yes 9 1/2 weeks..I believe I saw the sequel also...

Thanks for your post ;)

cloudboy -> RE: New movie THE PET trailer here (6/18/2006 3:40:22 AM)

Frankly, judging from the trailer, it looks like the Hollywoodization of BDSM, where action replaces character and drama, where stupidity replaces subtetly, where good and evil are clearly defined. (At least Dan Akroyd and Rosie O'Donnell aren't in it.)

It also looks like a standard rescue fantasy played out from two ends:

1) Emotional Rescue: the desperate woman who meets the rich, understanding, edgy dominant ---

2) Physical Rescue: good man saves girl from evildoers.

Did I forget to add blah, blah, blah, and double blah??

Thanks for pointing the movie out, although I must give credit to a the threadstarter of MOVE OVER SECRETARY. That's the one that got my attention.

cloudboy -> RE: New movie THE PET trailer here (6/18/2006 3:47:16 AM)

Amayos, I forgot to ask. How much are you getting for your trained slaves on the open market?

Also, do you have one of those triangle cages in your house? If not, I suggest you get one. Slaves looks sexier in them.

LadyGiselle -> RE: New movie THE PET trailer here (6/18/2006 3:56:01 AM)

Hi,
91/2 Weeks, which was based on a true story, did not involve crime or murder.  Well, maybe petty crime, but nothing close to murder.
