Lucidly -> A Curious Onlooker (12/19/2012 6:36:14 AM)

Hey all, I'm a 20 year old male.

Like a lot of people, I'm very new to this. I don't really have a clue what I'm searching for, but I figured I may as well have a look around and see what I can learn from it.

Pretty terrible introduction, but hey, it's a start, haha.

As a side note, how should I go about a profile picture? I don't want to put my face in it; not because I'm self-conscious or anything of that nature, I'd just rather remain anonymous for the most part... But if I don't put my face in it, what do I put?

Hi there!

Your picture should show you. So if it doesn't have a face, have an activity that defines you - reading a book, riding a bicycle, the sort of thing you would do a lot.

Thanks for the advice!

My only issue at this point is fake accounts... When considering contacting people, there's always the worry that they might not be legitimate. Though it's funny that people instantly go for well-known adult models rather than some amateur self-shot - I guess they must get some attention or else there would be less of them.

C'mon. The worst that could happen is you lose five minutes of your life if you contact a fake. Besides, after a while, you'll be able to screen 'em out instantly.

Go for it!

Welcome, Lucidly,

Lots of people post a full body pic (clothed) with their face blotted out.
Trust me, that will attract the caliber of woman you're interested in.

Have fun in the forums!!

Welcome, take it slow, don't try to pretend you know what you are doing (not really a fake it until you make it thing) & you will learn a lot. I am very new myself and find approaching people politely gets you a wealth of valuable information.

Profile pics (we all go through it). You can do the mirror shot from the neck down, I have seen men do the cap/hat pulled down, a far away photo (like an action shot rope climbing or running..) where no one can really make out your features...No one has tried this yet (that I have seen) but you could do the bandana, Old West train robber thing :)

Welcome to Collarme, Lucidly. I'm sure you will think of something, as far as your picture is concerned.

DarkSteven made a good point. Hm...now I am thinking about posting a pic of myself. Maybe mine will be a closeup of my playing Pokemon on Nintendo DS. [:D]

I thought of having one with one of my favorite, wide brimmed hats. But they're black, and cat hair in my home sticks to everything. It's awful, but I've also had to give up having feathers decorating my hat; my kitties cannot resist them.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I suppose you're right, TieMeInKnottss, even if some of them are fake, there could still be something to be learned - whether it be safety or learning to introduce yourself in the right way.

I've got a picture for now, but will probably change it at some point. I thought it would be best to put at least something up; it's always harder to find people willing to pursue you if you have nothing at all, I find.
