Some say they can get calluses at the back of the throat, I've seen debate on two things regarding this:
1. Whether or not this is humanly possible (personal belief is, maybe...but it sounds very highly unlikely)
2. Whether or not these calluses would be dangerous for the individual.
So, that's something to think of briefly, but has never worried me. It's said this callusing happens after much 'training' of the back of the throat, both with a penis, and with toys. Again, it depends if you believe this is can happen.
Beyond that, the throat does bruise, I've experienced this, and sure it's painful and incovenient, but it healed for me quite quickly, just as any other bruise on the body would. The reason it happened is probably obvious, but just for clarity, this occurred after a pretty rough 'throat fucking'. So, if you engage in this with deep penetration of her throat, try not to get overzealous every time, as I'ms ure repeated bruising of the same general area would be more painful with time.
STDs, obviously, play safe, the mucous membrane in the throat is where we get sick from germs, so it's highly sensitive to 'absorbing' harmful organisms, so be safe. Both for her, and for yourself, if you're a new partnership, testing is a good idea, but I get the sense you've passed that hurdle and don't need a lecture [:D]
I may be biased because I enjoy deepthroating very much and spent time to 'learn' how to do it, but even with that said, I am pretty sure there isn't anything major to worry about that common sense won't warn you of if it all gets to be too much for her to handle. Let her go slowly, learn to control her gag reflex, relax her jaw muscles and enjoy [:D]
