Lol. I tell ya, there was a time I was almost tempted to take a squiz at his profile but I just know it'll be some SFB teenager pretending he's at least 18....

Decided I didn't wanna risk being disappointed.

Focus.

Why do people equate "gun owners" with "NRA members"?

The NRA claims 4.3 million members.

The best estimates of gun ownership are 55 million US households. That would equal out to over 100 million people.
Anyone with an IQ approaching room temperature (In degrees Celsius) could see the difference.

The NRA is a fringe group that does NOT represent me or Joe and Jane gunowner.

Claiming that equivalence makes about as much sense as saying "He's white, he's in the KKK"

The NRA spreads it's wings farther than just it's total number of members. 4.3 million members is not enough in and of itself to have the effect on legislation that they do. There are a crap load of people who don't send in that $35 for membership every year yet are 1 issue voters when it comes down to their guns. If it wasn't for the NRA we would have been down to muzzle loaders by now. I'm a member and they represent me. I think Charles Schummer and Diane Frankenfeinstien are among the fringe.

Please feel free to start the various gun threads as needed. I am actually a day or two late posting this so my apologies. But as long as the views etc being discussed about guns are different and not duplicates, please do not feel that you have to post in only this thread. I will leave open for those that wish to keep this discussion going, but please feel free to start other threads as needed, because, the users are right, there are different facets and discussions possible concerning guns.

Thanks VAA!

Did you leave it out or there's (conveniently) no figures for Britain and the Netherlands about how often the victim is threatened or attacked during a "hot" burglary (US 30%)? Not looking to be difficult here, but I've contended several times that those inclined to break into US homes have the same right to bear arms as the home defender.

I didn't leave out anything. I didn't write it.

Sure, a burglar, till he's a felon, has a right to bear arms. Once he in the process of criminal activity and should he get violent he's fair game in my opinion.

Surely the mere fact that the (alleged) fellon is indeed an actual fellon by going equipped for burglary?
Or for being unlawfully on the premises of someone that he is not calling on socially?
That's an arrestable crime in it's own right here. lol.

It is true I would like to see a more civil discourse here but that would take a miracle

Egocentrism is not conducive to civil discourse.

Its a shame you couldnt give Ps the same consideration, on whine versus whinge... even after he stated what he meant.

I accepted your and his explination merely pointing out that I had no expectation of changing the condescending attitude of some posters making his statement with whinge also inccorect, at no point did I claim to know what he was thinking when he made the statements. I do have to wonder why he seemed to take a generalized statement personally when I carefully avoided accusing any individual of any particular action.

Such declaration of being a felon is a legal pronouncement. Until declared by a court, no.

I am at a lost how anyone can say a word they had never heard of was incorrect.
