And right now I wish I had a clone of you to turn loose on my niece's boyfriend. He needs a major reality sledgehammer body blow.

Jeff I believe the thread drifted towards moderation because in trying to answer your question it seems most believed moderation was the cause of the decline...I have never believed this.

Sticking to your original question I believe there is no decline in the boards. I believe you are just noticing the difference in interests of new members. There is a natural drift as members join and others leave. The interests of the new members just may be different then your own so you find fewer threads that interest you. You may leave to find another board that is closer to your interests but this would not mark a decline just a change.

If i am making myself clear.

lets just say Aswad, since you used him as an example, enjoys long detailed discussions on particular subjects. He finds fewer threads that interest him so he assumes there is a decline in the board. This may very well just be the interests of the board in general has moved away from his interests.

Butch

I would have to disagree, Butch. I think it drifted that way because it was also a piece that was a part of the whole. It would have been as hard not to include it in the discussion as saying don't include the impact that the Sandy Hook shootings had on the forums the last ten days of December. It's also a possibility of why there wasn't a decline in volume of threads in your opinion. Politics and Religion had an upswing in conversations. If there was a decline in kink related threads, you may not have noticed it because the majority of your posting is done in P&R.

In Jeff's case (and he can correct Me if I'm wrong) he wasn't seeing a decline in the number of kink related threads being started because a lot of his activity has been on the "Is financial domination a legitimate form of D/s" thread. He and a number of other posters have been very active on that thread because it is the one that held their interest. I'm of a different opinion because a lot of activity on one thread is not the same thing as a steady volume of new kink related threads. That happened a bit later, after the shock of Sandy Hook wasn't quite as fresh.

Aswad -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/12/2013 8:30:49 AM)

We could do with more posters and more threads, I suppose; I can't think of anything that can be done to improve CM at this point.

Mostly just wanted to apologize for assuming thread drift had returned to being distinct from going off-topic.

I don't want to bring VAA down on everyone else with my posting.

Sorry, Jeff. See you around.

IWYW,
— Aswad.

The decline started for me with the arrival of the sock lesbians and their herd of sheeple that became just as nasty as they were.
There was no longer fun banter like in 2005 and 2006. Instead, it seemed like every thread was filled with the socks and their minions running amuck calling everyone fucking idiots.

What ever happened to old magic tits anyway, not that I care, she sure had a lot of people mesmerized with those things though, fascinating phenomena.

Extravagasm -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/12/2013 11:59:46 PM)

Now that this thread's been re-aimed, here are suggestions for improvement, aimed at the design. To be clear, I admire CM. Its webpage opens by defining itself to be the largest BDSM Community . . . . Why not. Its mail system's a gem. Powerful member-search. Highly functional forum interfaces. . . But . . . (here goes)

1) The teaser called 'As the Collar Turns' ought to have back and forth arrows added, so that users can rewind to a topic that they glimpse and miss. The current absence of arrows frustrates its purpose. Since the teaser transports newbies to forum threads, this improvement would enhance forum use (and vitality:)

2) Now to the profile side. There should be a way to stay in Full-view mode when viewing member profiles. Instead of tediously going back and forth between List-view and Full-view. Could be done by making better use of those left and right arrows around a Full-view profile. It's not clear what they presently scroll through. Those left and right arrows could directly assign to your personalized left-margin member lists (eg NewMembers). To the very lists you can't access from Full-view mode.

3) Whenever a profile is generated or edit-saved, CM should have a hidden app comparing the city stated with the SPN. If they're close, your stated city just appears in green. If not close, the city goes in regular black text (or empty if user neglects). It would be an interesting tool against fakes that seasoned members could pick up on. (SPN detection is already built-in to the distance calculator, which is often incongruent with the cities fakes do list. But it can be turned off.)

4) There's no present way to search or differentiate smokers from non-smokers, because CM lacks a field, for this useful matching characteristic. It's never too late. Existing members would fill it in, when they wish.

FR... Given the number of really interesting threads that have started in the last week or so, and the constructive and positive way they're being replied to, I do hope this pathetic whinefest of a thread continues, it's clearly improving the contributions elsewhere.

Level -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/13/2013 3:50:00 AM)

Suggestion: allow polls in any section, as long as it's pertaining to that area. The option is already there, and a lot of folks won't go to the Random section.

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/13/2013 4:03:41 AM)

That's something we can do Level. I will let the mods know. I agree, and some of the political polls in particular we have had in the past I think prove that point. Thanks, that was an awesome suggestion (not that others aren't also, but THIS one I can do, and will do and amend the guidelines). Thanks!

Muttling, the horse pic is LMFAO on steroids :)

Guy featured has the detachment thing down pretty well, LOL. Like a new kind of BDSM.

LA was a one-woman go-to service for thread hunting. Damn fast, too.
