I promise I don't make these things up...

How to beat your demons, literally: Siberian psychologists thrash patients with STICKS to help them kick their addictions

No but its down right funny that canning is now the New medical treatment.

It's not new.

In places where you can't legally prescribe low-risk opioids for depression, pain is sometimes used to induce natural (endogenous) opioid production.

As a treatment modality, it has less risk than ECT, making it worthwhile to try with patients that are nearly catatonic.

Using it against drug addiction seems a logical extension of that, probably motivated by the same legal hassles.

It will certainly get your mind off that little headache!

The article was certainly interesting....................I wonder where I can sign up to help administer the "treatment".

They used to use a paddle on inmates here, the kind with holes in. The inmates themselves said this was the most effective way to induce change. No one wanted a second time.

I guess it still beats spending a "lifetime" of dependancy on drugs or 12 step rooms.
