Damn right I've reported folks...if deserved. I can't tell you how many tickets I've gotten. A lot more since Chi came in,lol. But it's alright, I'm sure they were all deserved. I'm attempting to be more like Jeff and use the hide button. But sometimes it's hard.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 4:32:15 AM)

I have never reported anyone on this side. On the profile side, I report dick and cunt primary pics and (rarely) violations of TOS.

I seriously doubt I would ever report anyone for a personal attack, on me or someone else.

From what I can recall, I've never reported a boarder.

I've reported scammers on the other side and I'd probably report someone I thought was doing something vile and illegal or if someone was tossing someone's real details up on the board for everyone to see.

I really doubt the mods give a crap what people think about the moderation. People don't volunteer for this shit out of the goodness of their heart, they do it because it scratches an itch - even if that itch is just getting to throw their weight around with people they dislike. And one meltdown doesn't imply the rest of them are teetering on the edge.

I actually give a crap about what people think about the moderation, as does my staff. There are times I pull things that if, were up to me, I would let stay and vice versa. However, the owners make the rules, pay the bills, and therefore are the decision makers on ALL policy. Since the mods ARE human, (believe it or not) we do fuck up from time to time, especially in times of understaffing, and increased reports, etc. I say that because the moderators are only here on the boards, there is other staff(albeit without plethora of personnel either) in other areas. The idea for helping consistency because people look at things differently, is for me to review what actions are taken or not taken by the staff all over the site. I will be very honest and say I do not review all the areas nearly as consistently as I would like( real life, job, etc, shoot me I'm human). So, in truth, when you see something that is not consistent, I am the one to be blamed, not the rest of the staff. They are truly doing what they feel is correct, and document everything. It is my fault if I do not see the documentation and possibly change any decision. It is not a nefarious plot on the part of the mods, or an attempt to show favoritism. If I was doing all of my job,(support, pics, boards, profiles, scammers, among other areas and responsibilities) the regularity of these inaccurate observations would in all probability decrease. (hopefully at least with the 4 or 5 members that seem to feel the most strongly about it, judging from the all posts that are made about this subject).

Since it IS a volunteer position and noone is allowed to "run freely", there is no itch to scratch, as the positions are anonymous. If a mod come across a post that a user has made that they have possibly had "words" with on the boards as a poster that they think they might need to be removed. , they have another mod make the call. I have not posted under my regular nick since I took this position except for sometimes a birthday wish thread( and that has been ages) and I don't dislike ANY poster.

Because they are volunteers, that is WHY, I'm sure, we are understaffed, because it is often times a position that my staff hears at great lengths what users are unhappy about, and only remain because of their love for the site and the boards.

That, however, is only my opinion of course. Believe it or not, you are welcome to disagree [;)]

On the profile side, I've made multiple reports...pictures of gaping assholes, gaping pussies, and full frontal dicks....people bashing other users by name in their profiles and journals....profile references to b*stiality and underage sorts of things.

But it's ok that you have a picture of a full frontal dick in your own gallery? And just for giggles I pulled up the profile of the very first person in your "Friends" list - guess what, LanceHughes has multiple full frontal dick shots.

Not that I disagree with reporting the obviously obscene, but what is that old saying.. People in glass houses..

Lucylastic -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 5:07:08 AM)

try looking for the primary pic, NOT being full frontal *rule*...

kalikshama -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 5:07:37 AM)

The rule is no explicit PRIMARY pictures and is shown every time one posts a photo.

Not sure if people realize, but if the thread is pulled, the report will be missing.

I didn't know that.
Granted before people on this thread said there was a report list I didn't realize there was one. Which I have since found. Lol

The primary photo isn't supposed to full frontal nude or of sexual nature.

Lucylastic -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 5:12:45 AM)

I think Ive only ever reported one pic on the other side, , defecation pics are not pleasant to see in a random primary pic(or at any other timeIMNSHO)
99.9% of my reports have been over in P&R and more than half of them were registered in the last year, since the crazy rules" that werent " were ahem enforced.

Oh, and I've had posts reported more times than I can count. Certain posters had a habit of starting shit, then crying foul when they had their ass handed to them. And, of course, they had their little mod-friends, so.....

How do you know who made the reports? None of the reports I've made were for posts directed at me and others in this thread have said the same thing.

I dont know how it works, if someones post gets pulled if they are told who reported them (so they know who's skin they got under), I get the impression they are not told but I dont know for sure..

The gold letters I receive mention the infraction but not the reporter.

calamitysandra -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 5:27:11 AM)

I have twice reported a post.
One was Arpig making a truly vicious personal attack, the second was PaHunk going of even farther into the deep end.

Lucylastic -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 5:42:48 AM)

Ive never been told who reported my posts.
I think I reported ONE maybe two posts directed at myself. Could be more, but usually its for posts directed at someone else.

cordeliasub -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 6:21:26 AM)

I haven't been here long, but I have never reported. After being a member of two non-BDSM sites where over moderation and PC-ism ran amok, I just don't think I'd report unless something way just way way out there or threatening.

Marc2b -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 6:52:27 AM)

Nope. I haven't reported anyone yet. I have thought about it a couple of times but a person would have to go way over the top - like making physical threats - before I'd report them.

I'd go further and say that if you care about the boards, then you should be reporting posts that you think might be against TOS

I have never looked at it this way and I will have to think about it some more. My first thought is I'm not really sure what is against TOS except anything to do with children so I am not a judge with the knowledge required.

It seems most posts here besides the children and inappropriate pictures seems to be personal attacks and these I will most certainly not report. I figure it is up to the people involved to report if they feel it is necessary. I personally don't let people attack me simply by refusing to engage them when they go that route.

Maybe another part of this thread should be in all honesty how many have read TOS of this site from start to finish and feel they are qualified to know every infraction? I must admit i have not...and I'll bet I am in the vast majority.

kdsub -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 9:01:44 AM)

I thank you for posting to this thread...of course I never expected you to call people out for lying about reporting or not...it was just for fun as I've stated...and I find nothing wrong with legitimate reporting anyway.

However I do have a question. Would it be wise and fair if those who were volunteering to be moderators to NOT post or participate in forums under their non moderator profiles while they are moderators?

Would this not prevent some problems that are occurring or do you think it would make getting volunteers harder.

Or perhaps that is already the policy and I do not know it.

Butch

NuevaVida -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 9:03:43 AM)

I don't need to know every infraction just like I don't need to know every law on the books when I call 911 to report a drunk driver. I know THAT is an infraction, and its one that risks lives so I report it.

I also pick up litter in my neighborhood when I see it, because I like to keep my community clean. Since I can't actually pick up the "litter" that is sometimes posted here, if I feel it's an over the top infraction I notify those who *can* clean it up. To help keep the place I visit free of debree. It is subjective, of course. Some people don't mind litter, or don't see things as litter. So they ignore it and move on. Some people like to clean it up. To each their own.

SassySarijane -> RE: Lets be honest have you ever reported anyone (1/11/2013 9:14:20 AM)

Between both profiles I've had on here, I've reported 24 posts over the last 7+ years. If I know it is wrong, I will report it and let the mods determine from there. If I don't like or want to read a particular poster, I just hide them and go on with my life and not worry about it.

I personally think the TOS should be expanded.. to include insults even if they arent direct or name the person the insult is directed to, cuz if you are posting to reply to a poster that is imo who the insult is meant for (unless they have been named to be excluded from it).. I guess I see forums as a place to exhange ideas and viewpoints, not to be an online Gladiator fighting to the verbal death.. You dont change anyones opinions by being insulting and verbally abusive, when someone does that they do the reverse and the other person becomes entrenched in their opinion cuz at that point you are no longer communicating... You only have the opportunity to change someones opinion if you can reason with them without it becoming personal with insults... and imo when people arent allowed to insult that way, then more people will join the discussion & it will be a richer experience.. jmo..
