Greetings

Well several places on this site we have threads for everyone with a certain interest or persuasion or hobby, so I was thinking why not a thread for us kinky Pagans, just a place to discuss our faith, how it affect our kinky life and vice versa and generally chat away about Paganism. I know I would like to participate in such a thread so why not just make one then.

Well to kick this off, hello my name is Nephandi, or Anja if you want and I am a kinky Pagan. I call myself Wiccanish, in that the path i follow is similar to Wicca but not similar enough that I would call myself a Wiccan. I am very eclectic and I am also a Ceremonial magician, Chaote and a New Ager. So is where any other kinky Pagans on this site who would like to start a conversation.

Now for a first conversation starter for the thread, have anyone read Dark Moon Rising by Raven Kaldera, that is a book for how to include BDSM into your Pagan path and practice Pagan spiritual BDSM. I really love the book and it is on my top 20 Occult books list.

I wish you all well.

Great thread idea nephandi! I am pagan-friendly and enjoyed a Winter Solstice celebration last month for the first time. My friend who lives downstairs is pagan and I will point him to this thread.

Dark Moon Rising got really good reviews on Amazon but they don't have the Kindle format and my library doesn't have it so I am going to wait to hear what y'all have to say about it.

Greetings

I usually do not read books on Kindle, I prefer to have a book I can touch. Basically Dark Moon Rising is well written and it is not aimed at one particular Pagan path so that anyone can adjust the material to what they themselves practice. I really recommend the book.

I wish you well

There are certainly plenty of us, I'm always amused by the number of people I meet who are Pagan + kinky + re-enactors/SFfans. My own theory is that weird people tend to be weird in more ways than one.

Actual overlap between BDSm and Pagan ritual is rarer, though of course there's the ancient and honourable precedent of Gardner inventing ritual scourging so he could get whipped by naked women. But an online friend told me of a ritual his group held based around the Descent of Inanna, at the end of which the HP was hung by her wrists and flogged, if not to death, then to somewhere she reckoned she'd had a really good view of it.

I hope a few more people join in with this.

Yeah that is certainly a possibility. I am a Pagan and an Occultist as well as a New Ager. I am a Goth, I am into science fiction, fantasy and horror and I am a BDSMer and a Gorean so there is certainly a row of weird beads there for you. I think that if you have one out of the ordinary interest it is more easy to accept another and just go with it. :D

I do not see the Gerardian rituals involving ropes and whips as actual BDSM for their purpose is not the same. Whipping is done for purification and is generally not done hard enough to hurt and binding one of the ritualists, usually someone to be initiated have to do with symbolic meanings. Now sometimes a ritual whipping can be more severe but in either case it have different reasons than BDSM. It is like if your at Joanne who is in a wheelchair needs to use straps to stay in the chair as she do not have the musculature control to do so on her own that is not BDSM but hell I know few kinksters who would have loved to strap one another to a wheelchair and then it have a different meaning.

What I am thinking about with BDSM mixed with Paganism is sex magick with a BDSM hint or when you for example go into spiritual slavery with another person so that the BDSM elements gets mixed into your spiritual practice.

I wish you well

While I am not a pagan per se, I do follow a mixture of native american spirituality and Catholicism, and I do read tarot cards.

So I agree that this topic is long over due.

Now, I have to ask, do pagans use the missionary position or do they have something else. (jk)

I have a light interest in Hoodoo and a heavy interest in tarot. When I have bottomed, I find that scenes based in even lightly in ritual feel so much more right than other ones.

Hmm. I think I have a copy of Dark Moon Rising around here somewhere.
