Youth

We're always rushing around
Desperate to get somewhere new
Never stopping to consider
Where we are might be good too

Children look at teens
With wide adoring eyes
Driving a mysterious privilege
It seems nothing but highs

Then we grow to be a teen
Driving becomes an annoying chore
Can't stand living with our parents
Can't wait to grow up more

And so we age, and get a job
And sink into a miserable mire
That we can finally retire

We get our wish, and we grow old
Finally, we'll do what WE want to
But we ache, and are out of shape
Staying home seems best to do

So we sit on the couch
And think to when we were young
We wonder how we aged so fast
And how our youth was so unsung
