ORIGINAL: punisher440 I was not the first to bring up guns in this thread and yet you choose to start on me when the poster I was responding to was doing the same thing yet you ignored him and started on me.I wonder why that might be...could it be he wants to ban guns as well? That's right, "guns" - as part of a discussion of how different cultures (ie, nationalities) do things. The differences and finding a middle-ground between those cultures (countries) is what THIS topic is about. I've also been discussing the Brits vs English with jlf1961 (the OP), Wales & England with BamaD and North vs South Ireland (and Rugby) with PeonForHer. Then there's you...! All you wanna do is tell the different nationalities/cultures to butt out of the US and your rather unique ways of doing things, altogether. So I ask for about the 3rd time, why tha hell are you even here when *this* topic is the last thing you wanna discuss???? quote:
From the "Guns" thread on post number 481 " I'd mostly look to shoot feral cats (including the odd pet that strayed - oops) but often hadta settle for ratbits (rabbits but orta be declared rats). " So now do you remember? I see; this is me killing "my neighbour's cat"? What it is, is me shooting cats in the bush about half a kilometre from any neighbours. Now I don't know if you have anything like the feral cat problem we have in Oz, but I'm gonna at least assume you're a heavily armed gun owner and shooter. Sooo, shooting cats in the Oz bush - and the difference between a feral and a stray pet. Stray pets are just that, someone's domestic cat - maybe it has a collar, maybe not. But a feral in the Oz bush, they look a bit different. They're usually filthy, lotsa cuts and minor injuries, the fur is matted and covered in burrs and they usually have masses of ticks around their mouth especially but also a few at their eyes, ears and No 2 shute. When I'm specifically targeting cats, I just use a vanilla .22 rifle and either hollow points or high-velocity ammo. Usual ideal range is from about 20 out to 50 metres. Best time to hunt them is around dusk. So it's darkish, most cats you spot at the edge of brush (differing shady light) and even looking through a 4X32 Tasco scope, you don't pick up ticks or cuts or dirty, matted fur etc. Or conversely, a collar, either. And nor would I care. Domestics are no less damaging to native wildlife than a feral and they have no business out in the bush. And it's likely a lost and budding feral anyway. quote:
Exactly why should I provide you with numbers killed in the U.S. for tobacco and alcohol when it is you that keeps going on and on about U.S. gun deaths. If you are so concerned about keeping people alive, try starting in your own country. For starters, exactly because of what *this* topic is about. You wanna tell me all about how "bad" it is in Oz but fail to provide a comparable standard. I did with gun deaths (0.09/100,000 in Oz and 3.7/100,00 in the US - 41 times higher per capita). I'm not so much concerned about keeping people alive as being against the utter carnage of innocents, like at Newtown. quote:
So how about you tending to your business in Australia and we will deal with our business over here. <groan> quote:
edited to remove your childish name calling quotes Considering the problems you've had with CM's quoting mechanics, I don't believe that's the real reason you've edited. Yet you do have a point. Not quite convinced I should be the only one left banging my head against walls but yeah, I called you childish names on a public forum - and I shouldn't have. I'm almost tempted to say Kirata was right about one thing (my "descent into personal attacks and name calling") - post # 239 - but last I heard from him, he was off to see an oral surgeon about a wedged foot. Anyway, I do apologise for calling you names and will restrain myself in future. To a point.... ;) Focus.
