bar? I don't think they make laundry detergent in bars. At least I've never seen them. There's liquid, powder and gelpacs.

My grandmother used a bar laundry soap by the name of Fels Naptha. She used it to pre-treat stains so I don't know how hypoallergenic or gentle it is.

Ok, there is the Fels Naptha. I'd forgotten about that. Other than that, I don't think I've ever seen any other brands in a bar.

Bar soap is made from sodium hydroxide (lye) and oils, so it will not be Hypoallergenic because those oils have allergens.

Laundry detergents are synthetic and contain no soap, so they have a better chance at being hypoallergenic.

I usually use a no dye/no frag detergent made by Arm & Hammer. It's powder not bar though.

I have chemical sensitivities and have had good luck with Arm & Hammer and All's fragrance free liquid laundry detergent.

I've never tried using bar soap for handwashing - I usually use 7th Generation dish detergent for this.

For regular bar soap use, I buy Dr Bronner's. I really like the Rose.

The only bar soaps I know of that people use for laundry
(to hand wash) is Castile soap like Dr Bonner makes or Ivory soap.

Dr Bonner also makes a liquid detergent that can be used
for laundry and other things.

I've used Ivory soap, the same one you use as bath or hand
soap to hand wash delicates.
