ORIGINAL: TheLilSquaw OP, Race play, is enjoyed by many. Myself included. It doesn't make me a racist or mean that I don't respect myself or my ethnicity or my people's history. Or anyone else's. If race play offends you don't participate in it. If profiles which state they are looking for race play, or a racially based relationship bother you, hide them. Or have racial or ethnic nicks hide them. Words only have the power that we give them. Btw... I know many strong, black men who would say that the word that can't be used due TOS isn't a derogatory term. Some have told me that calling myself a squaw, is me not respecting my culture or people. Which is silly, because it wasn't a negative word until it was stolen and mis-used. I'm with you, all the way, LilSquaw. Words, in and of themselves, are completely neutral. The intention behind them may or may not be. Regardless of the "slinger's" intention, it is the receiver, alone, who determines whether they will allow themselves to be negatively impacted by another's words. Those that do, effectively have allowed themselves to be manipulated, i.e., gave their power away...to a fool!
