there for making the stomach have to work harder and more inefficiently to digest your meal?

my dad claims it's bad for you to drink with your meal, an it's a habit I have been in my whole adult life. So I just wonder if its true. Cause he don't always know what he's talking about when he starts giving health talks.

It really sounds like it's your dad who needs to go to classes with you, not your mom. If I were you, instead of listening to your father, just google it to get your answer. Don't bother to show it to him. He'll probably just tell you it's wrong.

He's so wrong. Water. Drink water all day, with meals, before meals, in the morning to refresh yourself and revive, and personally I wouldn't take nutritional advice from anyone that wasn't healthy themselves. I mean, hamburger helper and cake in the other thread is what they think is an ok dinner? Even if you skip the cake, hamburger helper is a fattening bad choice chemical shitstorm.

I know, I don't eat meat, but if you do, then have the hamburger, grilled, no bun, some seasonings, a nice salad on the side, olive oil and balsamic vinegar on it, a small amount of quinoa or brown rice, not dumped or mixed in with hamburger helper.

Aynne, he actually fancies himself as into health, he is the only one out of the 4 of us who is healthy. He is the proper weight, used to lift weights and work out everyday, gets up at 5 am andstarts his day and does a full days labor by time mid days rolled around. He reads all kinds of health articles, buys into all kinds of stuff they say, including the most recent of drinking with your meal, or w/iin 20 30 mins of the meal.

He said today that nobody at this house should eat hh ,.but they want to use it up, cause they are not gonna waste whats already been bought. Once its gone they wont buy any more.

Hes also of the mind all things are ok in moderation, but I just rather out right not have certain things.

In general, all things in moderation ARE ok. However, since you know you can't take them even in moderation, then it is not ok for you.

all things in moderation....unless you know you will end up in a hospital or very ill from it. There are foods I would love to eat but I can't because I know I will be ill for days.

You know with your diabetes there are certain things you should not eat. You can't eat those things in moderation. And even though your dad is in better shape than all of you, it's because he is doing labor, he's working his body and burning calories. It's as simple as that. It has nothing to do with the articles he is reading.

Like I said, I think you should drag him along to your classes.

Actually, as a person with diabetes, there is nothing I can't eat...in moderation. That is the biggest misconception people have about diabetes that there are foods a diabetic is not supposed to have. Right now, my blood sugar is a bit off, so I avoid certain things, but when it is fine, I can eat whatever I want, within moderation.

I understand that Lafayette, but someone like tftb, I think she's well aware that she has temptation and control issues so she knows there are foods she needs to stay away from.
