We use pseudonyms to maintain our anonymity here. This is an interest we share but obviously there are people with less than honorable intentions involved. Just because YOU email me does not mean I am ready to reveal my personal info to YOU. This includes webcam and the "got a pic?". If there isn't a pic on the profile, that means the owner of that profile doesn't want everyone to know what they look like and probably doesn't want to send one out immediately just 'cause you want validation.

I don't take well to someone who immediately tries to put me on the defensive. Why do I have to "PROVE" anything to you.

We are not on a witness stand either - don't start firing too many personal questions until we are ready to reveal these things - as things progress a woman feels more comfortable with you and may allow you closer. Its called having a conversation.

Why is it that a simple request to prove ones truthfulness or existence is such a great conversation stopper ; a simple iChat or yahoo Im?

The trick is to move the conversation to a point where the person you are talking to wants to demonstrate good faith.

Put the shoe on the other foot. A woman is talking with a man, and she wants to be sure he's not married and cheating. If he gives her his number or his Skype info, and offers to call her or take a call more or less whenever she wants -- 7 in the morning, or 9 at night -- he probably really is single. Just the fact that he made the offer is often enough. Same thing about women cam-verifying. Women know that men on the site have to deal with scammers. Asking for video or voice verification before making travel plans is completely reasonable. Make her feel safe and interested, and she'll be happy to verify, 99% of the time. (Even the women on this thread saying they never would, actually might, given that scenario. They are responding to your defensive tone, as I read things anyway.)

If you talk with someone for a short time, and can't get her to feel safe and interested, then the two of you are incompatible, and my suggestion to both of you would be to save time and move on.
