Hi folks, I wanted to ask people's opinions. How do you cope with being caged for a long period of time (6 hours).

Recently, I met Tine who has become a play partner. We have been having scenes regularly for the last month or so now. We've now developed a relationship of sorts. Today though, I was placed in a cage for a little over 5 hours I felt like I was going potty after a little while. Now don't get me wrong, Tine...Mistress...(we really haven't sorted out how I'm meant to refer to her yet)...well she did sneak up on me, place a blanket over the cage...in short broke up the 5 hour stint with some stuff.

Honestly though, I can't imagine going through that again...coping for that long in a cage with nothing to do but think. I have discussed it already with Tine and she has let on that whilst she doesn't intend to cage me for quite so long again it is a 'useful tool' to have. I've said it's not a limit, because I can 'do' it, but I'm not wanting to.

So does anyone else have any techniques for coping with that?

Well at the moment we're still kind of pushing boundaries and seeing what makes us both tick. We're, well I suppose you'd say trying to find out more about ourselves. From our post-scene chat I think both of us agreed that this was maybe a step too far, too early. Apparently she did notice me twitching a bit and taking a nap (which was so not comfortable and earned me a smack or twenty). I also had pen and paper in the second half of the stint, but I'm not the most creative and I ended up playing noughts and crosses with myself for a little while.

Still, I can't imagine being in cage for a length of time like that again...I got seriously weird...or at least my thoughts did. Maybe that's the sign that it shouldn't be done...ever. I'm just really trying to get a grip on things.

It was an odd experience that makes me want to ask others if they've ever done something like this...

Both Tine and I agree that the length of time was not something that should be repeated...for my sake, but oh I don't know...maybe I went slightly mad today?

Yeah. Thinking is pretty scary.

Bottom line : If you don't like it, don't do it.

Personally, I love being caged... Then again, I'm also into puppy play. ;) There's something about being collared, caged and unable to use your fingers (yay leather mitts!) - there are simply no words to adequately describe it. I'm truly sorry if you can't experience something like that or if you can't find anything fun about your confinement. Perhaps your mistress can turn it into a punishment: behave yourself or it's cage time!

I've never been caged but if there was some rational reason that I was to be in a cage for that long with nothing to do and no interaction, I'd probably just sleep. I can get to sleep pretty easily in almost any kind of spot, so I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

I was talking about thinking.

What's this about a cage?

How is this any different than being stuck anywhere for 5 hours... an airport say. What I'd do is "work". I'd sit and think about what I needed to get done on my various projects over the next few weeks. If I was allowed paper and pencil I'd be scratching out ideas and project plans. In other words, I'd make myself as useful as I could. Failing that I'd take a nap.

I have also not been caged myself- but given paper or my journal- I would have been writing or yep a nap because once I am still for a long while with nothing to do i am going to curl up and take a nap. On the other hand i have had a sub I was once talking to that was wanting to be caged for long periods of time and I would have obliged him from time to time, depending on the dynamics we would have worked out before hand of the types of scene play we would have done.

Depends on the size of the cage. One where I have room to move around? Quite comfortably actually and I actually enjoy it. I like being caged and left there. I like the quiet, the peacefulness, to give me time to think or meditate, read a good book, sleep or whatever. It's kinda like having a space of your own that you can go to when you want alone time.

Small and cramped? Not comfortably at all and that's the purpose. He doesn't want me to be comfortable. He doesn't want it to be easy. He doesn't want me to be able to find different ways to move around. That's the reason why it's small.

If it's uncomfortable and you're going to have muscle cramps, that's not a good thing. If you're claustrophobic, also bad. If you can lie down comfortably and stretch out, then ask if you can have a book or an ipod with you.

But it's unsafe for her to lock you in and then go shopping. Plus while you're in it, you can't be washing dishes or making her tea.

The idea sounds really hot and something that would be neat to experience, I think.

The idea does sound interesting but I wouldn't want to be caged up while she is away shopping or something else. What if there was a fire? Those kind of things need to be put into consideration in my opinion.

She just leaves the cage unlocked. It's not like it need to be locked....unless you really are that dishonest.

It sounds to me like you may have been in there way to long, are you claustrophobic? because if that's the case you may want to ask your mistress instead of a cage if it could be a closet or maybe tied somewhere for a length of time until you could try a bigger cage? I would definitely talk it over with her though that way you can come to a compromise that she decides is best. Hope that was helpful good luck

That's why you always have an emergency key. Mistress would know if you used it (for example, it could spill some pain on the carpet) - you'd still be able to escape in case of a fire but she'd know if you got out of the cage just because you got bored.

or he could just be a good boy and stay put and not disobey....unless that's their thing together as fun. Otherwise how do people stay in relationships with someone they don't trust?

I have been caged several times for 4 to 5 hours. She did leave at times for lunch or shopping. For safety reasons she would tie a peice of thread on the cage door. If I were to open it the thread would break.
