OK- suppose I wanted to admire a SIR.    Is this what the lifestyle is?

No, that's admiration.  While admiration is included in most relationships (just as often from masters to slaves as it is slaves to masters), it's not what "the lifestyle" is about.

However, if admiring someone is what you want to do and what gets you going and you set up a relationship around that- then all the happiness to you.

Nope. For example, I have a high opinion of someone like IronBear, we have discussed many issues and even on those few we don't see eye to eye on I respect his opinion and I admire his courage (From his past as well as how he lives his life currently).

That has nothing to do with our lifestyle and everything to do with the person he is!

I think admiring is part of it. It would be impossible for me to submit without admiration for the person. It is the start of what I think one should feel before they enter the lifestyle.

The lifestyle is so many things to so many people.

There are many here I admire for the personality and behaviour bere on the boards. Some of these I have never seen eye with and probably never will but they are worthy adversories. Others whom I admire, the admiration has developed into as close a friendship as one may get in cyberspace. Hathor, Raven Muse, Ron and Padraig are four which springs to my tired mind at this ungodly hour or 0300, even though there are more.. This happened due to the lifestyle we all share at least in part but had we met in any other cyber port of call the results would have been the same. Admitation is a good startig point in any lifestyle or relationship.... Be sure they are worthy of your admiration though..
