Gauge -> C is for... (6/21/2006 11:21:39 AM)

Allow me to depart from my domly self for a moment and show you a softer side of me.

I have a small, furry, wild friend who I have named Dennis. Dennis is a chipmunk and every morning I sit outside and drink my coffee and I put out several handfuls of peanuts for my little friend. He shows up and kind of greets me by poking his head up over the concrete of the porch and stares at me for a while. He then grabs as many peanuts that he can stuff inside of his chubby cheeks and runs off to his burrow.

I found this website several years ago and it came to mind that someone might just enjoy chipmunks as much as I do. If so, share some sites if you know of any.

Enjoy the link.

"C is for Cookie thats good enough for me" .............yes, too many years of Sesame Street
but seriously....
I enjoy almost all the furry creatures. I will have to look and see if I still have the photos I took of the chipmunks that nested in the base of the oak tree in my horse pasture last year. I used to take them nuts in the mornings. I have not seen them this year but then I do have some kestrels nesting in another big oak. I doubt the two can live together peacefully.

Cuuuuute~

We had a house on the coast, once, with a nice wrap-around porch that you could see on two sides of the house. Mom put out all sorts of bird feeders, which attracted plenty of critters. Chipmunks would scurry past the windows, and our cats, stuck inside the house, would try to chase after them!
