http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/28/fashion/bondage-domination-and-kink-sex-communities-step-into-view.html?pagewanted=all&_r=2&

On a recent Friday night, a small group of people lined up in a cinder-block hallway inside an unmarked entrance to Paddles, a club on West 26th Street. Two men in their 60s were discussing real estate and a few women in their 20s were sending last-minute texts before going down two flights to the subterranean space.

Paddles is not another trendy table tennis emporium, but a “safe space” to live out erotic fantasies, specifically BDSM (bondage/discipline, domination/submission, sadism/masochism), OTK (over the knee; in other words, spanking), and an alphabet soup’s worth of other sexual practices that, until recently, have gone largely unnoticed and undiscussed by the mainstream world.

Favorite quote from the article:

When she plays with others, Deb, a lifelong Mets fan, uses the phrase “Yankees Rule,” which she could only utter under extreme duress.

Paddles used to be a great club. From this article, it sounds like it is gonna' be crowded with wannabee tourists now.

i went there is was ok, I wasn't crazy about it, the only reason why I would go back is becasue some I know goes thee still and I hang out with him. I don't like how they dont keep it a secret. and to get in is so easy. I don't know how I feel abpout that

Looks like Paddles will be having a lot of fresh meat showing up...now that the media have pointed it out to the 50 Shades crowd.

The article mentioned Alt.com and Fet...but not CollarMe. [sm=river.gif][sm=rantint.gif][sm=river.gif][sm=rantint.gif]

If the Fifty Shades crowd showing up is a bad thing, isn't not being mentioned alongside Alt and Fet a good thing?

meh....last time I went to Paddles about 10 years ago it was already run over by mainstream people. I went a handful of times hoping it was just the wrong night. Unfortunately it didn't turn out that way.

The only people that were there were a few people who were coming and going from the bars in the area and wanted a little hanky panky....lots of over the knee spanking, malesubs begging femdommes for anything and quite a few just looking to pick up a one night stand. And just lots and lots of people sitting around staring and hoping for someone to want them.

FR
I think I'd prefer one of the trendy table tennis emporiums.
I don't think kink tourists are anything new.I think sometimes
things in the broader culture trigger influxes of them at certain
times more than others.
