Believe it or not, the engineer who built that ball thrower used to be a coworker of mine.   He spent two years tinkering to get it working the way he wanted it and his daschund would average well over 500 throws per day while everyone was away from the house with school or work.  (The computer controller has a counter on it.)

If you watch closely in the video, you'll see the dog pulling at the rubber bands on the sling shot.   He had figured out that the machine would reload more quickly if he yanked on them and that's why you see him doing it in parts of the video.

Sadly, the dog in the video developed serious back problems from age about two years after this video was made (an illness that is extremely common to his breed) and the machine had to be put away.

I haven't talked to him in about 5 years so it's hard telling what he's up to now with his pets, kids, and gizmos.   I suspect the dog has passed as he was pretty old when I knew him.

A Doxie! Squee! They love those tennis balls. Very smart dogs.

Ahh that's super cool, Muttling :) well hopefully, if this little dog has passed away, they were able to give a home and a snazzy ball-throwing machine to a new one. ^_^
