ORIGINAL: acissej This article will only be free on the New York Times website for a few days, but I thought this article about bdsm fashion trends at the Folsom Street East street fair this week was interesting. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/22/fashion/thursdaystyles/22leather.html?ex=1151640000&en=d43e8e35ec451612&ei=5070&emc=eta1 Liked the article acissej. I do not find it surprising as I think most leather and fetish wear comes out of the gay community, that's where Madonna got her idea's from, along with many of her other idea's and fashion statements, remember "Vouge" that came "straight" from the gay nightclubs in NY. Leather fetish wear connected to BDSM has been found in the gay men leather community for many, many years. I rode on the back of my Domina's Harley in the Chicago Gay Pride parade with the "Dykes on Bikes" (the crowd attendance was over 400.000) I wore leather fetish clothing and I saw many many others who were also. Same when I few days before we rode in the Chicago Dykes March, the bikes lead the march and fetish wear was all over the place and it was also predominant in the mass crowds of the people standing along side both routes. I also know it is not the first year but goes back many years where fetish wear and gear have been prevalent in the gay and lesbian communities. It was a very exciting time and I saw some great outfits all over the place. Wish I was going to be there this year too! I had a blast! I encourage anyone interested to go to their local Gay Pride festival and take in all the creative fetish wear. *Brightspot
