LadyPact -> Poll about toys and space (4/7/2013 8:28:48 PM)

This poll was inspired by this thread. http://www.collarchat.com/m_4418536/tm.htm For those who haven't read the thread, the discussion turned to owning toys, having a dedicated play space, and dungeon furniture. I have always advocated that each person should have their own toys, no matter whether they are top or bottom.

A toy bag is pretty easy to take to the local play party or if a person has a private play date away from home. That started the thought of how many folks have a dedicated play space at home. Of course, that made Me want to add the question about dungeon furniture because I tend to think of these things in a different sense. You'd have a bed/sleeping area whether you were playing on it or not. I want to know the stuff that doesn't have a primary purpose other than play.

I only had the ability to give ten options, so I tried to go with the three areas of toys, space, and dungeon furniture. I also split these by relationship status.

Multiple selections are allowed. My thanks in advance for those who participate.

I'm only recently not single, and most of my toys I had before I met Him.

As for dedicated play space, I rent a bedroom in someone else's house currently, so, no play space. I did replace my box spring (which didn't fit up the stairs) with a wooden frame, of course adding D rings in multiple places (tucked nicely under the edge of the mattress so it's not visible). Must conserve space. One day, when I have my own house, I fully plan on having a play space, with some custom made furniture. Nothing quite like home made when you have the right tools.[:D]

Since it was my post that started this, I should chime in. At the moment my collection can fit in a mechanic's tool bag, and it's only handcuffs, whip, paddle, and miscellaneous hardware for "field modifications". At one time I had a dedicated play space with a separate bed, stocks, and a re-purposed swing set. Everything but the stocks were modified by yours truly, and I wish I had a picture so bad right now.

I had a butcher-block table that had been turned into a coffee table which I modified further by attaching steel cargo rings and aging them, a very sturdy wooden chair, and an old prison-issue steel cot I had a friend weld hard points to. After two cross-country moves, and more than six since I got back here, most of that stuff got left behind or given away. I plan on waiting until I have my own house before I rebuild my play space.

single, no toy or furniture...damn it, someone get me a flogger! I can do it myself (might get the blood flowing to my back again).

Rasciallymisty -> RE: Poll about toys and space (4/8/2013 7:12:09 AM)

Single at the moment and have my own toys. They are all tucked away for a rainy day. [:D]

NuevaVida -> RE: Poll about toys and space (4/8/2013 9:10:08 AM)

We each had toys coming into the relationship and have since bought a lot more.

UnholyBear -> RE: Poll about toys and space (4/8/2013 2:56:14 PM)

I am a switch and do have a small duffel bag and a back pack holding the toys I own. At some point in the future, I do plan to own a larger house so I can turn a room into a personal play space.

Down the road when we cohabitate, we will surely have dungeon furniture. Meanwhile, we get a lot of mileage from my bed frame (stock photo; not my actual bed.)

That's a great play bed!! The Mister has an iron bed frame with lots of places to loop ropes through, etc.

But I love that bedroom in your pic!! [:)]

MadamAsianDom -> RE: Poll about toys and space (4/9/2013 7:36:18 AM)

I am married, however my husband is vanilla and in no way interested in being a part of my lifestyle. Add to that having 3 of our 4 sons at home (the 2nd oldest shipped out to Marine basic yesterday), and that meant that if I wanted to train or play with someone, I needed to be able to do it away from home.

I am single in the sense that my husband and I have an open marriage and I do not currently have a boyfriend or submissive or slave. (I do have several mentees, but that is not at all the same thing.)

So to facilitate my ability to train (or play) others, I have a separate house altogether. It just seemed the more practical solution to the situation I found myself in. Within the house there is a specific bedroom that has the cross, the spank benches, the table with my needles and sharps container, as well as hooks on the walls that my floggers hang from. Paddles and other implements that don't have hanging loops are housed in an Armoire in the closet of that room.

I have, in the past, allowed the local group to hold demos and munches within my BDSM house, and the fact that I had that room worked out very well.

itsapixie -> RE: Poll about toys and space (4/9/2013 9:18:15 AM)

We have a few toys, but no real bdsm specific implements. We use whatever is handy. Belts, rope, hands, kitchen utensils, coat hangers :x I received some really neato scratch marks from a serving fork a few weeks ago. For me, it's all the more exciting when you're thinking wtf IS that?!

We have a young child, so having a room dedicated to sexy time isn't really do-able. We don't have any dungeon furniture, but we did install o-rings to our bed and on the outer door frame of our master bathroom.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Poll about toys and space (4/12/2013 1:38:21 AM)

Single but not single D, switch for only one person, with personal toys. Shared toys. Personal play space and his play space. Remote dungeon space that is shared with another couple and some "furniture" that at this point could make the Marquis de Sade cry.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Poll about toys and space (4/12/2013 5:49:26 AM)

I always make room for my leather whether single, paired or poly. Even in the smallest places I usually convert a spare bedroom into a dungeon (no bed, just dungeon furniture).

Currently in a relationship with samdarella, in a house with 3 bedrooms plus den. Using it as 2 bedrooms, an office and a dungeon. Have furniture like a cage, cross and two styles of benches. Gear rails on the walls. Privacy fence in back yard, pool. We can even take our play outdoors (quietly... there are neighbors on two sides).

My relationship status never changed my domestic set up or the furniture I owned. I may end up with a lock on one of the rooms but I still make room for my leather no matter the exposure level of my house (exposure to vanilla etc). I like to pick housing and locations that suit my lifestyle, not cramp it. In Sarasota Florida, I had a large house and a poly with two moms and 3 kids in my life. The kids were not allowed in the master bedroom. There was an entrance way with walk in closets to that bedroom and it blocked the view of the room from the hallway outside. So I put a cage, cross, bench and gear rails in that bedroom along the two walls furthest from view. This picture is the corner of that master bedroom.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: Poll about toys and space (4/12/2013 6:05:21 AM)

I'm not single and I have ALWAYS had my own toys and am always getting more.

I've always wanted a dedicated play space in my home. It was only recently that I actually have that. I LOVE it. I am still working on the space and trying to figure out how to have a sleeping / bed area that can easily be moved or removed.

I admit I don't have a lot of the "traditional" dungeon furniture but the pieces I have and are going to be getting are pieces that I use on a personal level, in my pro sessions, as well in videos.

I did a video session with a woman the other day who works as a pro domme and when she commented on my toy collection. I admit I felt a some pride behind that.

I've had beds like this in the past but unfortunately my experience has been that the metal bends and breaks way way too easily and the pieces are welded together instead of one continuous piece.

I have a metal bed right now that is a lot stronger since it's really thick and solid but I think we've only actually used it for bondage maybe once or twice lol.

Before you buy one like in the picture, test it out in the stores. Many times the pieces are really loose or become loose really easily. Pull on the pieces, see if you can bend the metal even a little. If you're the type who does a lot of tugging and pulling on bonds then you may want to think twice of a bed like that.
