Fair enough, next time I will just clarify. I don't agree with celebrating anyone's death, but I also understand why it happens. With Politesub my intention wasn't to defend that so much as to defend the Left in Britain. I don't think holding a street party because someone died speaks volumes about the Left.

It was her choice of solution that I didn't like, I'm not denying the problems existed before she was elected.

i guess it is hard to measure. would be interesting to see what any polls of left wing voters say about it.

Ah. Well, that's something you are much more accustomed to, than I.

I'm sure this thread will be handy in the archives, when the next old lefty goes off to answer for their deeds.

This guy is always threatening us of some imagined future drubing, after getting his assed kicked(retorhically) or when his party looks like shit....

"you just wait till next time, yada yada....why I`m gonna yada yada...." [:D]

We will have to differ on this. The lefts idea of holding parties to celebrate a womans death shows a lack of class. As do the remarks of some MP`s in the Commons today, especially Glenda Jackson. I noticed Lord (I`ll never accept a peerage) Prescott was quick to praise Jacksons remarks.

I have to say I have absolute disdain for lefties like this who swap sides in the class war when it suits them.

thezeppo -> RE: Margaret Thatcher Dead (4/10/2013 5:03:05 PM)

Its the part where it was the lefts idea to hold the street party that I disagreed with, but yeah at this point I'm happy to agree to disagree. I'm not really cut out for this board, I can barely follow my own advice most of the time! Have a good one, I will probably be back to be inconsistent all over another thread in the near future.

like this lil gem from thursday....
Fox Claimed U.S. Has Lowest Murder Rate By Guns In The World

Bolling: U.S. Has "Lowest Murder Rate By Gun In The World." On the April 4 edition of The Five, co-host Eric Bolling said, "Your number, your 270 million guns in America, 308 million Americans, also of the lowest murder rate by gun in the world also. So more guns equals lower murder rate by guns." [Fox News, The Five, 4/4/13]

PS rich....ive been remarkably polite regarding thatcher when compared to my actual feelings about the woman, Ive had since I was 17. I have no compassion for her in the slightest....I have no respect for the woman, at one time I did.... I learned my lesson well.
Ive mellowed in my old age...a few years ago, I would have danced on her grave.... Now Im more concerned about spraining my ankle.
The damage is done, people are paying for it today...and will be for decades.

"Britain will not invite Argentine President Cristina Fernandez to Margaret Thatcher's funeral next week in a snub likely to deepen a long-running diplomatic dispute over the Falkland Islands."

It may be different over there for you on Baker Street, old bean, but here us yanks commonly believe it has the meaning of 'murder'.  Hows about your side of the pond?

Moonhead -> RE: Margaret Thatcher Dead (4/11/2013 7:57:29 AM)

I find this a lot funnier:
quote:

Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead has moved up to number 4 in the race for the top spot in this Sunday’s Official Singles Chart.

The song has sold almost 20,000 copies and is currently 14,000 behind the current number 1 Need U (100%) by Duke Dumont FT A*M*E.

It has rocketed into the charts following a Facebook campaign by Thatcher critics following her death.

Wouldn't have been my choice of song, to be honest, but I doubt that they'd be able to get behind some Billy Bragg or Elvis Costello for this, sadly.

PeonForHer -> RE: Margaret Thatcher Dead (4/11/2013 2:35:14 PM)

Try this Peter Wylie one for a bit of heavy metal / punk tone:

Moonhead -> RE: Margaret Thatcher Dead (4/11/2013 3:54:24 PM)

Better than most of the Wah! crap, but I prefer these two:
Tramp The Dirt Down
Thatcherites
Then there's the Moz (who I can't suffer, but you know...)
Margaret On The Guillotine

PeonForHer -> RE: Margaret Thatcher Dead (4/11/2013 4:11:14 PM)

I've just realised that the Peter Wylie one was very much in the Stones' 'Wild Thing' mould.

I'd come across the Billy Bragg and the Elvis Costello ones, though not the Morrissey one. TBH, they're all too much into downbeat laments for me.

[*Jesus* am I sick of seeing her face. I've only heard a few brief moments of her voice in recordings since her death - that was even worse.]

Hell's bells - did you hear the line 'John Major is now the greatest living British politician'? I think this is the line that's struck me the most in the last couple of days.

Moonhead -> RE: Margaret Thatcher Dead (4/11/2013 4:14:20 PM)

At least they've realised that Boris Johnson is a zombie.
