That's a nice dance step, but facts remain facts.
Thanks for your input on our Constitution, though.

Lmao, there's facts and then there's your "facts".
Seem to recall your last specious link to the *alleged* violence in Aus got shot to bits.
My man...! [:)]
Focus.

Actually, they didn't get "shot to bits" (was this phrase an attempt at humor? I know I found it humorous that an anti-2nd Amendment guy would use that phrase. [:D]). What was debunked was that gun crimes didn't rise. It's true that gun crimes went down and most others didn't change. The claim, however, stated that violent crime would rise. And, in case you missed it, I clearly showed, graphically, that your own government statistics support the truth that violent crimes have increased since 1996.

Violent crimes in the US are going down. Violent crimes Down Under are going up. Some like to claim that as gun ownership in the US has risen, crime rates have dropped and the opposite is occurring in Australia. While the numbers may show it, what can't be shown, is that the change in gun ownership is causing the change in crime rates.

Pffft...!

Kirata cited Australian Government stats on violent crime and compared them with US government stats on violent crime. Turned out the respective governments had different definitions of what constitutes "violent crime". US doesn't include everything whereas Oz does - apples and oranges - but presto, we're the violent ones. Not that I've noticed in my 58 years, but anything to change the subject from guns, ay.

And no, I wasn't the one who "shot him to bits" (that time) nor posted any of the links. But hey, it was one of the gun threads so I'm sure you were there.

Focus.

So, Democrats claim
Voter ID laws
won't prevent
any voter fraud...

That's ironic,
considering they claim
universal background checks
will deter gun violence...

Ironic because
the facts
prove them wrong...
in both cases.

Moonhead -> RE: Gun control - FAIL (4/20/2013 11:53:42 AM)

While we're on this, what about the assumption that an abortion ban will prevent abortion rather than leading to a lot of women dying of blood poisoning from botched back alley abortions?

Actually, when you analyze the trends in the Oz stats and the trends in the US stats, you can see what the general trend is within both countries. You can't compare the US stats to the Oz stats, straight up, and Kirata wasn't, but when you see the US trending down and Oz trending up, you can see that it isn't exactly true that fewer guns means fewer violent crimes.

I know it wasn't you that attempted to rebut Kirata's claims before, but you certainly did fail all the same.

Many people here are politicizing the issue, but the driver behind background checks comes from law enforcement officials and the ATF who think the measure would help prevent gun violence.

It's interesting how anyone selling ammonium nitrate is regulated (fertilizer) whereas gun-nuts feel background checks and the banning of assault weapons and high magazine cartridges is "off limits."

You call Bloomberg sensible...I call him dictatorial. He changed the rules to allow himself another term as Mayor, and now he's coming down with regulations that are incredibly invasive. Restricting a person's ability to drink what they like, telling people which foods they can and cannot eat, and going so far as to threaten the salt industry to reduce sodium content in processed and pre-packaged foods.

You have never been to med school have you?
Are you acquainted with a doctor? If so perhaps you might want to chat with him/her about nutrition...your post seems to represent a black hole of ignorance.

This isn't over, we need to push harder and go for more. As long as Obama is POTUS and the Senate is a democrat majority, the Constitution isn't safe.

On what bassis do you make that assertion?

Carter still wins since Carter overthrew the shah of Iran, which is, more or less, the root of most of our current problems.

Any validation for this moronic statement?
Why are you in favor of the u.s. supporting a dictator?

quote:

But Obama still has 3 years. Iran or South Korean (ooops) getting nukes could well let him claim the razzberry.

So you seem to feel it is ok for you to be armed but not your neighbors???that would seem to make them pretty easy targets.
Which begs the question why do you want your neighbors to be easy prey while you are the only one armed?
Your agenda is pretty transparent.

Why are you in favor of the u.s. supporting dictators???Dont you believe in "freedom and justice for all".If you dont then I would suggest that you stop saying the pledge of allegience since that would be swearing to a lie?

It would appear that in your world the government cannot tell you shit. Trust me they can.
Would you like some explosives, poison, automatic weapons????You will need to ask permission.Would you like to make some alcohol again you will need the government's permission. If you do not like the rules in my country then you have two choices. Use the political process to change them or leave... if you choose the latter, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

And that is exactly why we can't have government in control of healthcare. If Jack Meoff wants to drown his kidneys in shit sugar water, then let the bastard. So you are in favor of unhealthy people?

Heh. All you need now is an assistant and a rabbit. Actually, the way it "turns out" is that by your own definition the number of assaults and sexual assaults soared in your country after 1995 at rates far exceeding the rate of population growth.

Must've missed that link - it's in this thread? And who was it making claim to that conclusion? I would imagine "fewer guns means fewer violent crimes" *involving guns* - no?

quote:

I know it wasn't you that attempted to rebut Kirata's claims before, but you certainly did fail all the same.

Oh, well, since you say so, that changes everything and I should consider myself suitably admonished!

Remind me.... In another gun thread, I said something to the effect that there hasn't been another spree killing in Oz since the Port Arthur gun reforms. And, yes or no, it was you who put up a link of Oz spree killings to rebut that? To correct me....

Now, obviously it wasn't you who compiled that list (Wikepedia?), but I'm right to assume you actually read it before "correcting" me with it?

The smug; I always enjoy the smug (no sarcasm intended) - it's sooo undeservingly entitled of you as to truly be *you*.

As much as I usually enjoy engaging you for a few posts until you inevitably stub your toe on your own tonsils, the novelty is wearing off.

Ok, maybe I'm just a bit distracted tonight but this thread is all yours. Enjoy!
