A little whild ago, I saw a movie trailer for World Trade Center and almost started to Ball (definition, ugly cry, the kind of cry you see at funerals or when the tax man commeth,)  Anyway,  don't you think its a bit too soon for another of these types of movies?  Maybe I'm just too sensitive.  I still can't watch the movie "Philadelphia"" nor can I watch the movie or see the play "Rent" due to the fact I lost to siblings to AIDS and their deaths were 12 years ago.

Do you think Hollywood is in too much of a rush to capitalize on 911 catastrophic ruins?  Should their be a longer healing time for all?  I don't really know, for me its waaaaaaayyyyyyyy too soon.  I am curious as to how my fellow others feel on the such subjecs if any care to share their thoughts.

Hi Rosa. In my opinion, it isn't too soon, and I hope that whoever is working on the film is doing so with a desire to capture the historic event on film, rather than do it as a way to make a buck.

I agree with Level.  I'd hate to think the objective of the film is to line someone's pockets, however, I do think that such a film, sticking with historical accounts, will help keep the poor people whose lives were lost in our minds and hearts.  We Americans all too often become quickly complacent as we live our lives.  This is one event that needs to remain with us.

I don't feel it is too soon. The longer they wait, the more the story would get watered down with, maybe this happened and may that happened. They just need to work with the facts, as they are understood at the time and let history take its usual course with the theories. Sure, someone is going to make some money in the deal, but chances of part of the money being donated toward assisting with the fallout from the incident, are more likely if it's done sooner, than later.

I'm like you.  I think it's too soon.  I won't attempt to back it up with facts.  All I know when I see the trailers is that it just doesn't feel right.  It's too fresh in my mind.

Excuse all those typos I was stuck in cyberspace chat with a friend and didn't make it back here in time to correct what was clear to me to be third grade level english usually I at least make it to 7th grade english..

Thank you all for your replies thus far very insightful.  Nicholas Cage is one of the lead actors and that Latino Actor who played the repairman in the Oscar winning movie Crash.  My apologies to that actor for not remebering his name.  The movie looks to be well made, but just not one I'm ready to see.  I think the history books are a better place for me.  For the complacent maybe the periodic reminders like these movies are absolutely necessary.

i saw United 93.  It was difficult to watch, but it didn't seem too soon.  There were many heros that day who deserve to be remembered.

I think it is too soon, it is too much like reliving the tragedy all over again while it is still fresh in my mind.

I feel like people makeing these kind of movies will treat it like a casting call for drama and tears.
However I feel that in itself will ruin its meaning.

What could hurt me more then knowing their was so many real common people in their.

I dont need a single face or story.
Not some watered down or hyped theatrical story.

Just make a documentory with the real faces and lives.
bring out every name and story.
The crying family members and loved ones.

Kids growing up with out their mother or father.
Then for the fun of it, show the
greiving families all over the world.

Not just from the terrorist attacks.
But the families that miss the people who did these things.

Maybe that will nock some sense into em.

I mean how many times could I show them the innocent people they said they were fighting for
caught in the explosion, or cross fire.

The widowed men and woman, The dead children.
We went to war to get rid of Sadam rite?...

I think in a way we all became him.
Forgive me for saying that.

Hollywood has probably been chomping at the bit to spit this movie out since the day it happened.  They are so out of ideas and producing nothing but shit film after shit film that they need fresh meat.

Personally I think it is disgusting that they are trying to cash in on a tragedy, just like that idiot Michael Moore, but that is Hollywood.  They have no shame.  All they can see is dollar signs.  Cha ching.

I think it's too soon because the historical significance isn't clear yet.  As long as politicians keep using 9/11 to advance their agendas, we won't be able to see the event with clear lenses.  We'll have to wait through at least one presidential administration, and possibly two, before we can look back at what happened and assess it dispassionately.

Well, I don't quite know how to put this, but if I do it wrong I am sure someone will point it out.

If you know someone who died in 9/11, I am sorry for the American people's complacence in allowing their tax dollars to be used for war, and yes we did start it. That does not make your loss any less significant, but I urge you to put the blame where it belongs.

Why the emotion if you didn't know anybody who died then ? We are not coherent as a society and most of us don't even know our neighbors. If you didn't know them, they got killed in New York. I admit, not in a pleasant way. Did you know them ?

Did you know the Palestinian kids killed by a bulldozer, did you know Rachael Corrie ? Did your Parents know JFK ? all dead. Did you know President Diem before he was assassinated by the CIA ? Did you know any of those about ten or twenty people Saddam is on trial for killing after they tried to assasinate him ? Yes, after all this shit he is on trial for about 20 murders, that's all.

Did you know anybody killed in Katrina ?

Did you know any of these people, if not, why act irrationally ?

So now we are talking about not being able to watch a movie ? Rubbish. Now if you really did lose someone there, OK, but for just regular folk, you watch more violence on cable than that every day. Why is it more real ?

Does this give anyone a fucking clue ? That screen doesn't mean shit, even the PC screen.
I admit this is real, but people cry at fiction and other crap. Perhaps we need the stiff upper lip the English have coined.

I don't think it is too soon, I think America needs to be reminded that we were attacked in the way that we were. Although, I would rather it be more of a documentary than a hollywood movie.

I would like to see ALL of the profits going to the charitable organizations that helped out after the fact and/or to help the families in some way, etc. Unfortunately, most will probably line people's pockets.

For me, I won't be able to go see it in theatres just as I could not go see Flight 93. I get very emotional and do not wish to be with 100 strangers when I let loose. I prefer to be in the comfort of my home snuggled up to someone I care for, even if it is just my cat. So will have to wait for the video to rent.

G'evening all:

A-M-E-N! Cripes, it really burns me to see folks hundreds even thousands of miles away getting high on their horses regarding a tragedy that had nothing to do with them. I live here, in NYC. All this melodrama about the sanctity of the site, like it's sacred or something. Phooie. It's real estate. Plain and simple. My heart goes out to those more directly affected than I, but it's been almost five years already. This subject has been bandied about for political clout, used to jerk people's heart strings, and completely bastardized. My only hope is that they make this in a more documentary style, rather than some cheesy Hollywood grasp for glory. Frankly, it's not just time, it's overdue.

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

First off, so many assumptions are being made and I won't apologize for being one of the weepy, soppy, emotional types, (in certain situations, don't mistake this for weakness, a person would be caught off guard for sure and be very sorry if they tried to use it to their advantage.,) since I don't consider the sanctaty of lives lost to be less worthy a cause for others to care about whether there are blood ties or not..  I can't speak for others but I was born and raised in NY and was present in the area when 9/11 took place (people be aware, not all NY'rs are cold hearted, every person out just for themselves kind of beings).

As far as the WTC site, I haven't any thoughts on the site/real estate itself, my feelings are about the lives lost the people that suffered through what happened and what's still happening to those dealing with the after effects.  Not how the events have affected me perse.  I happen to be a highly emphathetic person, its my curse, I would love to be like so many others that lack emphathy for others feelings, wouldn't it be a much more wonderful place to reside if we could all just blow each other off without a care in the world.

Now as far as blowing things off and having a stiff upper lip.  As they say, until someone's walked in another's shoes, don't judge, because you know nothing of strengths within that person or what they've had to endure to get to the point they are at in their life.  You might not be able to sustain half of what they forged through.  Not an exact quote, but I'm sure you get the meaning.

But I'm going to forgive those that don't get it and still won't understand this little rant, I realize you have your own little hot buttons related to 9/11 that are being pushed, so continue on with what it is you need to do to make you feel good about you.  We're all just getting through the day no skin off out backs.  Don't forget to perch those lips.
