Get over it. Frankly, both the seat AND the lid should be down when not in use, so everybody has to move something. Because of my kidney/bladder issues, I make sure I don't close the lid in the middle of the night because I sometimes have to hurry down the stairs and run to the bathroom, and the lid is just one more step that could cause me a problem, lol. Of course, I live alone so I do what I want. But since my one cat thinks the toilet is his personal water toy, I tend to close the lid or face kitty prints on the seat. So gross.
