Ask for that as the tribute

That sounds awesome.

There's a restaurant in Midtown that I frequent about once a year, called Magpie Catering & Cafe. The food is delectable, and they have a wonderful wine list.

I just met up with a friend there earlier this week. The dessert we always share, while it sounds utterly disgusting (we had to order it to try it when we first saw it on the menu), is a Chocolate Avocado Mousse.

Who'da thought? You can't taste the avocado. It just gives it an amazing creamy buttery richness that I've never in my life experienced. It's freakin heaven in a ramekin. They top it off with a drizzled line of rock salt and cayenne.

Oh and anything I've ordered on their menu? No freaking way I'd ask for alterations, sauces or substitutions. There's no need to change perfection!

God I love that place.....(thinking of begging the Mister to take me back this weekend)....

That Chocolate Avocado Mousse does sound delicious!
I used to HATE avocado, but over time my taste for it has significantly changed. I now find any excuse to use them.

*heads to google for a Chocolate Avocado Mousse recipe*

I could live on avocados lol

But I thought that dessert sounded really bizarre...which is why I had to order it hahaha. And I swear you can't actually taste avocado in it...but you can really notice the way it enhances things.

I just Googled it - lots of recipes for it! Must try to make it myself!

Be fare, I chilled them before serving, this was no "warm nonsense" - oh no!

I love avocados and found tons of recipes for them and found out you can actually freeze them. I like to buy them when they are on sale because they can be kinda expensive but I never use them up fast enough before they go bad so I'm gonna start buying them again and freezing some for future use. I found a recipe using it in chicken salad in place of mayo. I wanna try that.

I have also found tons of recipes for bananas too where you can use them to replace things in cakes and such. It's another thing that I don't always use up quick enough.

Here in Baltimore all the restaurants are doing the weird food mixtures. We usually like to try them just out of curiosity....Ok, I do. [:D] Some have turned out to be pretty good but there have been others that have just been....eeeewww.

Adding avocados to smoothies is awesome too, makes em creamier, but you don't really taste it, just get the nutrition from it.

I did not know you could freeze them. I need to start doing that.

LW, I'd like to know how the chicken salad turns out. That sounds great. I make chicken salad without mayo (for myself, mayo for everyone else) and would love to have another option.
As far as restaurants go around here, it's mostly steak and BBQ (shocker, I know). I'm willing to try most everything at least once.

JAS, do you have a special recipe that you use or do you just add it to any recipe?
