1) Add CNN and Fox news to your facebook accounts.
2) Create a well made web page with one of the cheap hosting services.
3) have your friends do the same.
4) Post well written but twisted content concerning government activities.
5) Link to your friends webpages as the source for the information
6) Have your friends link back to your page as a source for the information.
7) Post anit left conspiracies that you have created on Fox News.
8) Post your anti right and anti left conspiracies on CNN.
9) Wait to see how long it takes for you fabricated conspiracy theory to show up on the CM P&R Section of the forum.
10) Charge a small fee of $2.50 for people to join your website organization, and also solicit advertising from the various political groups for increased income.

Did some research, many of these conspiracy web pages, actually pull in large revenues from advertising, member fees, and other sources of income.

If you actually look closer, none of the sites are listed as non profit organizations. Supporting the conspiracy theorists in the US is actually a very big business, and all you have to do is cite a name, I googled the names of some of the "reporters" and found that they never show up as journalists, in fact one name brings up everything but. I spent two hours trying to find one from an infowars story. I found a comedian, a drummer, a patent lawyer, a general contractor, and a whole bunch of facebook references to teenagers.

Conspiracy theorists are usually people who feel powerless and believing they know the secret truth gives them a sense of power. Which is why teens are so easy to get to believe in conspiracies.

My son went through a period of this. Very exhausting. I simply had to decree that nothing that came off of Fox News counted unless he could find a supporting article in the New York Times or the Washington Post. I also pointed out that eventually all conspiracy theorists decided it was the fault of the Jews and since I had spent a fair bit of money on his Bar Mitzvah, this was not acceptable. Thankfully, he outgrew this phase.

"Conspiracy theorists" is an interesting label in and of itself. By it's very nature it is mocking (a handy thing if you were the govt. I'd like to note). But reasonably speaking, there are different classes of "conspiracy theorists". I don't think one can lump in someone like Laura Poitras with some idiot talking about alien lizards taking over the royal family of england.

For me the problem became stark once I accepted that nothing which the government says is particularly trustworthy -- or even remotely trustworthy at all. I don't know why it took me almost 5 decades to realize that but there you have it. But once you start realizing you need to CHECK stuff the government tells you then suddenly you find yourself in this swirling morass of rumors. Some of them are correct. Many of them are not. Robert Parry was a conspiracy theorist. That particular theory turned into Iran-Contra.

One of the ways the sheep remain comfortable is by neatly separating out the "respectable jouralists" from the "conspiracy theorists" AFTER THE FACT. But before the fact they are all conspiracy theorists.
