You're right though, there is an infinity of places we aren't, merely due to the fact that we are here, or rather we aren't, because otherwise this conversation wouldn't be happening, which it isn't because we're not here. Churchill tried to re introduce the Gold Standard back in the 50s, it nearly crippled us. I think a problem you have with your economy, as opposed to the problems we have with ours, is that since the oil producing nations have turned to the Euro as a means of exchange, a hell of a lot of empty Dollars have been flooding back to the USA. You guys have been exporting Dollars in the hope they never come back... unfortunately.... There is a maxim in the UK, manufacture or die, you're right. We are service economies, we need to produce stuff.
