Thinking of going to Chicago to see family. School is out- so this time of year i80 is bad. Cant go for a few weeks any way even if I wanted to- as I need another check.

If you were driving i80 OH IN- how would you time it?

I wish to go with in the next 6 months- however the way I felt the other day I could have left that same hour.

I'd call AAA and ask them. They can give you an itinerary that takes into account things like local and regional traffic patterns, construction, etc. Not perfect, but good enough for most purposes.

I have a system that works pretty well for me ...

I map it out on Yahoo maps. Pay no attention to their ETA. Check to see if you're doing mostly highway driving (you are).

Divide the mileage by 50; instead of the 65 that they use and your time will be fairly accurate. I used to drive from New Brunswick, NJ to Erie, semi-regularly. I know this to be true.

If you wish to avoid some of the P'Burgh traffic, take I-91.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

I actually do belong to AAA- it was cheaper to do the car title via being a member.

First, I would not go to Ohio... alright I would go to Carolton and Delroy to see my mom's side of the family.

As far as timing it, I really dont know.

I don't normally time trips. I do them whenever I want and have the time and money. The only time I time them is when somoene else is going with me and I have to count on their schedule as well or I'm traveling for something like a family gathering or work trip. During those times it's easy to time them. I know the dates and times and I know when I need to leave. It's all been timed out for me pretty much through airlines or buses or trains.

Master and I have been known to just decide to go to the beach which is about 2 to 3 hours away, at a moment's notice. We kinda like being spontaneous.

ETA: ok, there are times when I have to travel by train or bus and what I do is go to google maps and put in my destination and where I'm leaving from and it gives me different routes, different times, fastest way, etc.....you may wanna try that.
