I don't need to. It's the prosecution's job to prove he didn't.
And only one person knows if he feared for his life that night...and that's Zimmerman. To prove criminal activity is something the prosecution is trying (and failing miserably) to do as we speak.
You'd know this if you were watching. One of the prosecution's STAR witnesses pretty much confirmed on the stand that it was Martin on top of Zimmerman just prior to the gunshot. The witness for the PROSECUTION. The defense at this point doesn't need to do anything but say "Your honor, the defense rests as the prosecutor's witnesses just proved our case for us."
